After having worked at Home Depot, I wouldn't buy appliances at Home Depot...

 

I grew up on Windows 9x. I've noticed that today's OSs (especially mobile OSs, but also MacOS and to a lesser extent Windows) de-prioritize or entirely hide the file system. I did not realize that it was done so effectively that kids never realized a filesystem was a thing. If this is as widespread as the article claims, the next decade could be interesting for those of us in tech-heavy fields. Some of the college profs they interviewed said the filesystem analogy is so foreign that they can't even teach it effectively.

I wouldn’t be surprised if it gave up new out the box.

ive seen so many LG and samsung fridges take a shit less then a year old. Some were even delivered broken

 

Reading that article and I just can't comprehend how those students think. They just expect something to be "there"? Where is "there" then? I guess they think it's just Fucking Magic? Even if things are saved to the cloud, you still need to know how to get to the cloud. It's an address, just like a street address.

Maybe I should teach that shit.

 

Now everything just magically saves to a cloud directory and then all those cloud apps know where to search for their files. But legacy style software doesn't do this... It's entertaining from an IT perspective... makes my job hilarious. I grew up with DOS and Windows 9x so no problems for me
