    Why would I complain about a first gen after comparing it to a later gen? Do you complain about a honey crisp apple after eating a steak? They’re completely different. Plus you later gen guys constantly complain about your engines and transmissions, so I don’t take anything y’all say seriously

    If it's safe to turn on/off your a/c, you can turn on/off the ECT button.

    It's not like it's a diff locker or something.

    No issues with my doublecab, 2.7 with 33's, factory 4.56 gears and 200 lbs of recovery gear, tube bumper, skids and winch. The only thing I ever hauled was 600 lbs of mulch and it did fine the 4 miles I had to get it home.

    I had a 2.4L 5 lug, and I have driven 2.7's, yes.

    No one is saying the 2.7L is a gutless worthless POS, but I think most people (at least the ones you see complaining about the power) would rather have a larger more powerful engine so it would more easily handle doing normal "truck stuff". If that's not your thing, and prefer better mpgs, so be it.

    I say "claim to carry" simply because you are literally the only person I've ever heard of with a 2.7L with stock gears, 33's and claim it does fine on the highway towing within 500lbs of it's max tow rating.

    As I said, simply based on my experiences with my 3.4L towing less than you carry, I can't imagine it towing "just fine". But hey, you do you.

    No one claims the 3.4 is some powerhouse either, but there's a lot of folks who, if given the choice, would go for something with a little more power and could more easily handle the weight.

    But seriously, regear your truck.

    Completely different 2.7. Maybe we can talk about the GM 2.7 next

    Does the extracab really make that much of a discernible difference? If I'm not mistaken it only adds about 200 lbs of weight to the truck..

    well my point isnt that, its that you can get a v6 ext cab, why get the 4 banger? Theyre both proven engines but the v6 has more power

    Given a choice I'd go with the V6 also but obviously if I found a really clean 4 banger I'd take that over a rusty beat up 3.4 truck. Sometimes it's just a question of what's available in your area.

    That depends on why I'm buying a truck in the first place.

    After having owned both a 2.4L and test driven several 2.7's I knew I'd want more pep than that, and didn't care much about MPGs.

    That said, the 2.7's are pretty good with forced induction and you could pretty easily get one to have more power than the 3.4.

    4 and 5 are right next to each other on the keyboard, could very easily just have been a typo.

    The irony when your last post was this:

    3.4 = 1st gen

    3.5 = not 1st gen

    Did I use small enough words this time?

    They also seem to get lost a lot and find themselves in the 1st gen section talking about cab mount chops and what not.
