I have been off road with my Taco a few times and have not experienced any issues except for cleaning in that area afterwards. I would say extreme off roading would not work well with this type of suspension enhancement though.

That is roughly what mine shows, between 266 to 275 when I fill up. I do drive it like idc about mpg's, also like to warm it up and spend my lunch on it at idle 3 to 4 times a week.

Same here, bought it for a trip to Smoky Mountains. We had 4 people in my truck, so all of our stuff was in the bed. Kept everything pretty dry, even though it rained 4/8 days.

I'm trying to wrap my head around how it would raise the ass enough to level or go slightly higher than the front after raising the perch on the front. It does that? I get the axle wrap prevention and stabilizing the dynamic arc of the spring but seems like it would have to arc the bajeezus out of an OEM leaf to achieve height.

When installing the axle is hanging so the arc of the springs is maximized. Then you set the tension on the springs and lower the vehicle. I got about a 1.5" lift in the rear by setting at the minimum suggested spring tension.

Okay...I can envision that working. My next concern/question is whether the device is designed for that? Being in absolute tension ALL the time and not just at compression cycles on the leaf. Now you have me intrigued so I need to investigate more beyond eTrailer's site.

Here is a good pic of the installation.

Still doesn't really help me understand how this is actually supposed to... work.

Looks like it adds tension to the leafsprings to take some of the load off them (letting the bolt-on spring take some load), thereby increasing payload capacity?

Air bags are another option if you're looking to overload, but requires more accouterments to function.

So the whole time it's pulling hard on the axle, effectively turning the front half of the leaf springs into a bow, with this device being the bow-string? That seems like it would sag over time, requiring regular adjustments since it's constantly under tension. Also, it would need to be adjusted each time you change the weight of the vehicle, right?

How is this better than airbags that I can hook up to a compressor and level the truck from inside the cab with the flick of a switch? I haven't compared the prices between the options so maybe the full airbag system is significantly more expensive?

I haven't really inspected the pics, but does it pull on the axle or just bow the spring?

Without knowing the full pros and cons of each, my first assumption is the $$$ barrier to entry.

I'd imagine the bolt-on spring is a couple hundred bucks, vs air bags that probably cost about the same but require on-board air and everything involved with installing that.

    Money talks.

From what I can see it's basically wrapped around the U-bolts and is under constant tension.

Price and resistance to puncture would have to be the biggest selling points because I don't really see any other technical reason for them to be favored over bags. I feel like I'd rather have an AAL if I was going the cheap route though.

If you have a load or were towing that changes often then this is not the system for you.
In my case I wanted to beef up the suspension without effecting ride stiffness, improve towing stability when pulling my pop-up camper and get a bit of lift as well.

I did add additional weather stripping to the tailgate portion as there was a small 1/4 inch gap but not a biggie... I actually emailed tyger and they sent it for free...gotta love that

The road master is different. But the physics is there. I would think the spring is there to supplement the leaf, as opposed to placing tension on it or the axle. But we may need to bust out a chalkboard and scratch our heads. I went with an AAL from toytec, made by Deaver, but it’s 3 leaves.

Ride is way better than the stock Off Road suspension, more firm and no more brake dive. I did the block since I rarely have weight in the bed. Me and my 15 year old son did the entire install. We used the non spring compressor method by removing the LCA bolts. Took about 6 hours (2 because the 1 in. block kit did not come with extended leaf bolt)

    Supercharged, 2" Lift, 33" tires.
Final piece of the puzzle came in today. Now I need to decide if I will install the lift before I get new tires or not. I don't want it to look weird with factory tires. I already have new rims, pro style with 0 offset. I am hoping to get Falken WP in 285/70/17

The goal is a 2" lift. I started to save and buy components for a few months now.

Going with Bilstein 6112/5160 Icon AAL 1.5"
