Yeah that’s right. But I was referring to this picture — he has pretty outdated photos on the website. It’s kind of hit and miss if you’re using his photos for info.

Should be all caught up on custom harnesses today or tomorrow. Sorry for the long delays as I’ve been working on my own truck!

so i have a switch harness made that has like 5 or 6 ch4x4 switches all spiced together but in order to get them illuminated they basically just took a pin that would go into a switch and have me put it into the back of the bed light switch and its always coming loose. Is this harness something I could use to connect that to so that it doesn't come loose anymore?

Yes that’s right — doing it this way it’s a very secure connection to the bed light switch. Nothing should be coming loose. Using the daisy chains also ensures nothing comes loose as all of the illumination is hardwired together via a connector instead of purely relying on a splice.

The pictures kinda show what I’m talking about
I was wondering if just using this connector connected to the illumination and ground wire would work? I have a 6 switch version on the 4 switch in the picture and the other picture shows how it’s currently powered for illumination

another thing you talk about using the dimmer my currently don’t dim do you think they would after using this

That’s a lot of splicing. All of my harnesses include the dimmable ground whereas the harness you showed just uses a ring terminal for a solid (non variable) ground which won’t give you any dimming. I see now why you’re having connection issues! That little jumper pin is prone to falling out. You could just get one of my harnesses and connect the illumination and ground to your pigtails in that spliced up harness. It should work fine. Or you can get daisy chains and do it from scratch. It would be cleaner and reversible.

i bought the harness from someone who could make it look alot cleaner then i could and it function great when it comes to switching but not great in illumination. but with your connector i just splice the grounds together and illumination wires and i should be good to go? if so i want one

Also ireally like how you got the led color to match. How hard is that to do?

Yeah that should do it. So you’d take all of the grounds from your switch wires, splice them together, and connect them to BLACK on my harness. Take all of the illumination leads and do the same thing but attach them to RED on my harness. You’ll have to cut a connector off of my harness to make it into a pigtail. I’ll shoot you a PM with order info.

Very tedious. I won’t sugar coat it — you have to open every switch, desolder the LEDs and resistors, and then solder new ones back on. The solder pads on those switches are very sensitive — I have melted several and am generally very good at soldering small components like that.

Is there any sort of plug in pass through for the 12v socket in the dash? I want to add a rear seat usb, but the center console USB is on a 7.5 amp circuit so I'd rather not add to that (unless there is a plug option for the tiny center console USB connector)

If a harness isn't possible, any chance something like this would work on the back of that 12v socket to add a connection point?

Not really. Have you seen the connectors in the back of the socket? They look like this more or less (designed to connect directly to a component/board):
    Screen Shot 2022-02-15 at 4.34.14 PM.jpg

So there isn't a very reliable solution for building a bridge. You could use the male spade you linked, but there's a high chance it'll slip off. Are you married to the idea of a keyed/acc power supply? If not, you could ground your new USB near the inverter under your console and then run a fuse tap to the driver's kick panel. There's an unused "always hot" 12V slot on the fuse panel on most Tacomas. Kind of an Easter egg on the 3rd Gen. It's rated for 20A:

I was hoping for a key on circuit since the USB has a backlight. Anything to tap into the center console USB?

I think this will work for you. I think it is long enough to attach to the back of the center dash power port.
It is only rated for 2.4 amps, total. So, you should be good, unless you are simultaneously pulling serious amperage from the host power socket in the dash.

    That's what I have, but it's 4.8A total (2.4A per side)

I'm also looking to get power to this guy while I'm in hooking up my 400w in motion harness. I'll probably use the always on empty fuse spot for this one.

I went back though some of my notes from when I did mine. I tapped into the center console. I haven't had any issues with overloading the circuit. But I have never had both rear chargers and the center console in use at the same time.
looks like we have a similar set up
I can't link over to that thread any more, but here are some pictures of my layout and wording.

Does your console have the 12v socket or the dual USB? The ones with the 12v socket are on a 15A circuit, but the dual USB are on a 7.5A circuit.

I just realized that I'm mixing amps @5v and amps @12v. I should be fine with 4 USB outlets on the circuit with 7.5A@12v and then running the socket off the unused fuse spot. Just more wiring than I was hoping for and less pre made harnesses.
