You dont want to bypass the rad with Tacoma,s unless you live somewhere the sun is peeling the paint off your truck .
These trucks are designed to use the engine temp to assist with transmission warm up .
You get far better gas mileage with the transmission cooling lines routed through the radiator .
The transmission is going to warm up quicker by using the engine heat . You get overdrive much quicker when the engine warms the transmisson .
This is a 2 sided blade though . If your engine overheats , you will also cook your transmission fluid .

I did take all that into consideration, but it is relatively hot in socal throughout the year. I always let the truck warm up a bit before driving, and plan to cover/block the cooler if I'm up in the mountains and the trans fluid can't get to temp.

Have you ever considered a good quality plate cooler from B&M ??

Just put an inline thermostat from derale in it and never worry about a too cold/ long warmup condition. It still wont heat the trans up as fast as if it was being warmed by the rad though.

Just got the TruCool LPD4589 installed, and with 2 days to prep wiring and moving the horns, it was actually pretty painless. Ended up adding about 3/4 of a quart to the transmission.
Didn't get a full test drive in, but the cooler was able to lower the pan temp about 10F even at 125F fluid temp. Happened pretty fast, about 5 minutes to lower temp.
