Can I have a simulated accumulator on my future sim-MT EV Taco for the sake of nostalgia?

    LoL!

As much as I liked the Taco. Both of those combined made for a very unrelaxed driving experience.

Say 'NO' to gashole and grille mounted clearance lights!!! Drugs are bad!

In my weak, pitiful, lame excuse of a defense, before my Tacoma, I drove 8 years in a '05 Corolla XRS with the 2ZZ-GE singer sewing machine engine and a 6MT. That little buzz box redlined at 8200rpm. It was insane... and with the factory lightened flywheel, clutch engagement was an art form, especially on hills. I was blissfully ignorant of the accumulator in the system, and just figured that is the way a hydraulic clutch was. Before that, everything was cable, 5.0L Mustangs and that stupid self adjusting plastic clutch quadrant that quickly got tossed for the aluminum unit and double nut adjust at the clutch fork.

To me coming from the 2ZZ-GE, the Tacoma has been an absolute dream to shift and drive. The engine torque is like a diesel compared to the high revving 4 banger. Sure it doesn't have the raw low grunt of the 5.0L but I didn't expect it either.

I will get these things done... the calibration update, tomorrow I think. Got some other things that need done to keep the wife happy:annoyed:

I hear you. But, it was sort of oppose for me. The Taco felt better and more direct than our previous FWD MTs, but shifts were unnatural, never consistent, and never relaxed. Felt like getting into a new MT daily. Not a bad thing, but not something that is chill to drive.

We had three hydraulic clutches previously and a couple cables. The hydraulics didn't feel greatly different other than the difficulty matching revs in lower gear downshifts with the Taco. Like you said though, it was just easier adjusting the cable ones each season. Esp as the engage point could be shifted to a preferred position.

I am curious to hear your impressions once you get things going.

To me, the point of a manual is simplicity and the transmission doing what I want. A simulated manual is the opposite of both of those. It is adding needless complexity and moves the driver further from the actual workings of the vehicle. I would rather a good paddle shifter at that point. Putting a third pedal that does nothing needed would be like making the key be a turn crank on the front bumper because that is how cars were once started.

Speaking of simplicity, I need to get some money and drop a new engine in my 1st gen. Manual locking hubs, manual T-case, manual windows, manual locks, manual drivers seat, cable throttle. Power windows and locks are nice, but I would trade them to get the other items back in a manual format.
