About a week or so ago I started a thread asking if the predator bars were better for people who were vertically challenged, as my wife is 5'2" and gets no help from the 5" oval steps that were on the truck. Unfortunately I can't update the original thread. It got closed due to some new member shenanigans, but I got some good opinions and ended up going with the predators. I can actually use these where I had to step over the ovals, and they got the wife seal of approval (which for my sanity is all that matters). I'm not sure I like the look better, but I think it will grow on me :)

I should have gone with these from the beginning. When I bought my truck they included the step bars but they weren't on the truck yet, so they let me pick whichever ones I wanted as long as they were OEM. I picked the 5" chrome ovals because that's all I'd ever had on other trucks I've owned and I didn't know how I felt about the predators. Oh well, nothing yet another few hundred didn't fix :spending:

I found mine on a Chevrolet lot with 23,000 miles, it came with the XP package which is basically everything blacked out, OR wheels, and the steps.

Thank you for the predator feedback and the pictures. Shopping for a Taco now with young kids, was definitely on my list. Not a lot of examples on the lots nowadays, so it’s hard to check the various options out personally. For you though, are you finding that on your way out of the vehicle, are the steps more or less likely to smear mud or snow on the back of your pants? With practice, does it seem like you could train yourself to step on them on the way out? That’s my concern with other tube/sliders is that (from pictures) it seems like it’d be easy to get your pant leg dirty unless you step way out there to avoid them. So the steps might help even non-vertically challenged, but I imagine it’ll take some getting used to.

You may drag your leg a time or two at first but you get used to them and clear them. My kids love them!

I liked the look of the predators that came with my truck, but they seemed to drag on everything and I don't even do any hardcore off roading. Had to take them off.

Saw some pics where people cut the steps off after tearing some off, now they have aluminum “sliders”. Did not look too shabby.

I use the step getting in and out of my truck. Mostly just the heel on my left foot on the way out, but it works. My wife and kids do, too. My seat bolsters look new after 18 months.
