I've been told anywhere from $3,000 to $4,500 by people I know; No official estimates yet.

Actually got through to the operations manager, and he's like "it's my understanding that you should have been contacted by our insurance by now"...

    It begins.

    :goingcrazy:

Back in 2015, it took about two months to get my truck into the shop after that woman rear-ended me because her insurance company kept dragging their heels; That was barely noticeable damage to the bumper!

I did call them, and my insurance company is hounding them now too; I don't even know who their insurance provider is! I have a feeling it's just their liability insurance and not a traditional auto insurance company.

Here is quite possibly the biggest and most important hint you will have received so far. When it comes time for the actual repairs, make sure you insist on OEM parts, not the aftermarket crap the insurance company will try to get you to accept. They will even try to push CAPA Certified aftermarket parts saying they are equivalent to OEM. Trust me on this, they are not. And aftermarket sheet metal / body parts are notorious for poor fit and minimal corrosion resistance.

They'll prob try and cheap out and recommend a door skin, and not a full door as well.

Body guy says he will get a door from a wrecked truck and repaint/blend to match; The inside of the door is damaged as well, because the window won't go down all the way and the locking system only latches when it feels like it.

Junkyard OEM parts are still better than any aftermarket parts.

The only aftermarket OEM lookalike part on my truck is the back bumper; I backed into a fence post at work about two years ago and didn't feel like paying $300 for an OEM one. Salvage yards were also charging obscene amounts of money for bumpers from totaled trucks, and this was before COVID and all these supply chain issues!

Insurance company usually won't total a vehicle until repair cost's exceed roughly 50-60% of value so based on the pictures I think you'll be okay. I would take a used salvage yard door over aftermarket myself.

BTW if you think that piece of tubing was big you should see the stuff where I work! What hit your truck was small by comparison.

Nope; Monday is a federal holiday, but if I don't hear from them by next Tuesday (February 22nd), I am going to be getting a lawyer. My truck has full coverage, but my deductible is a thousand bucks; I never saw that a big deal until now, and I will be changing that before I pay for my next six months of insurance. Needless to say, my insurance company (USAA) says they will go after the scrapyard's insurance company for the deductible and reimburse me, but I don't trust them to do this. I am going to call everyday until I get results, and I'd say a week is plenty of time to give them before I consider suing them!

I'm just glad the damn thing didn't land on the roof; At that position, it wouldn't have caused me any harm, but a crushed roof would have undoubtedly resulted in my truck getting totaled. In that case, I probably would have taken them to court for the price of a new Tacoma, citing pain and suffering!
