My 17 has never used a drop of oil. I don't even check in between changes most of the time since it never moves.

All gasoline and diesel engines naturally burn oil. Some burn a few tablespoons in 1000 miles, some burn 3 quarts in 100miles. It all depends on the health of the engine. Mid 90s Audi engines, 5cyl, 5cly turbo, V6, 4cyl turbo, would burn oil up to about 12-15000 and then consumption became un-readable between oil changes.

First, fill up the fuel tank. Then read your dipstick for oil level and top off with 0/20w synthetic (oem Toyota oil is Mobil 1). Drive until you need to fill up with gasoline and check the dipsick again. That is the best way to see how much oil you are burning.

So far whatever the dealer uses. I haven't made up my mind yet for future oil changes being on my nickel now, but if i plan to do them myself, it'll be mobil1 extended 0w20.

I have a 2018 V6 Tacoma with 65,000 miles. It uses up absolutely no oil that I can detect.

    Yeah
Oil burns blue, white smoke is a for sure indication it’s not oil related.

Asking about what oil brand will start endless Internet debates. The key is to get oil that has the highest current rating. For 0w20 the most up to date rating is SP GF-6. The cheapest SP rated 0w20 oil you can get right now is the Costco brand. It has all the good stuff of the expensive brands at a low price. If you don't have a Costco membership, Fram 0w20 that I think you get at Advanced Auto is SP rated and is low priced.

This. Also the dealerships use mobile one. Lot of us off-road guys use amsol. At the end of the day, long as the ratings are the same and it's not killing your bank, use whatever you can get

I buy genuine Toyota oil (filters too) right at the local dealer for a fair price.

Mobile 1 full synth is good oil. Amsoil is good, but I can't stomach the price tag.

Infused Olive Oil. The Red Pepper is good for 28hp and 57 ft.lbs of torque!!! The Rosemary is excellent for fuel economy. The Lemon.... good for city stop and go. The Garlic is an all around type.
