Hard to see on this tiny screen but do you have a coat of mastic down? Bathrooms and kitchens, mastic will save you a lot of headaches after it cures.
Going hard core we were taught one way but too late on your project: screw 1/4" hardybacker over subfloor then tile. Keeps water off the sub floor. Same for entryways if you are getting that ambitious.

I use thin set for the floor. Mastic is generally for walls because they it can hang tile well and yes easy to work with vs thin set I already have 1/4 USG fiber rock on the floor when I ripped up the vinyl flooring. I screwed that in every 8 inches. The sub flooring is most excellent and will not move. The floor will not be getting wet.
For some I suppose tiling is ambitious for some but for me it is not. I've done my own through the years and certainly know what I can do vs what you shouldn't. The floor will not crack. This is a very simple and common type of tiling job as there are no thrills. A 4.5 inch grinder with a stone blade is very sufficient. An excellent grout job covers a multitude of mistakes vs a crappy grout job. If you do a job like this please study up on what you are doing because it payoff in spades.
