That’s looking like the right answer. I’m worried about getting enough support in the front, but I’ll research more back half builds

Get some 2x3 or 2x4 tube, French in your own frame and be done.

    Too many to remember
Seriously just cut the rear frame rails off, you will be so much better off. You will be able to pull them inward and kick them up which will allow for way more up travel.

Either way I’ve got nothing but respect as you just got for it instead of just talking about it!

LS Swap with RSG Tranzilla, Custom hi clearance front bumper, Relentless: Slider's, bed rails, rear bumper, Prinsu with 40" BD s8. Dirt Designs 3.5 LT. Archive Garage rear towers/shackle flip/SUA. King Air bumps. King LT Coilovers in front. King 12x2.5 in rear. ARB rear air locker and twin compressor. SCS f5's with 33" Ridge Grapplers. 20" S8 mounted in bumper, squadron sport fog lights, squadron pro backup lights, LP6's bumper mounted.
Might apply, what I did for my rear cage mounts was did two 4x4 4 bolt plates with a angled piece of 2x2 square tube angling from them into the frame. Don’t have a bottom picture but here’s a top picture. I went on the outside for the rear section and might do similar on the inside at the front of the bed to help support it all when I mount my shocks for the 4 link some time this year.

This is what I did on our jeep. I know, it’s a jeep not a taco. But I cut the back half off and did a 2x3 back half. If I recall I ended up pulling the overall frame width in 8” in the rear. I had a similar situation to you with clearance and this solved it. You’re going to save a whole lot of headache just axing it and starting fresh.

Thanks man. I originally planned to back half it anyway. I’m gonna keep at it. It’s been fun to dip my toes in y’all’s world a little bit. I have a ton of respect for what all you guys do to push things to the next level. I couldn’t imagine.

Maybe square tube would be easier on my mind. I thought about notching the frame to fit a vertical tube. That way it’s kind of wrapped around and I can branch off of it. I’m just paranoid about not having enough support without a cage to tie into up top. Might be over thinking it.

You’re over thinking it. Cut the frame, cap the rails and build. Fish plate all of your joints and you will never have an issue. It’ll be stronger than the factory frame.

Just needs a wider axle. I went from rubbing shocks pretty good to not at all when I switched to the tundra axle

I used some .188 square tube in roughly the same size (2x3 or3x4?) as the frame to rebuild my rear. I cut the bottom of the frame out, slid the tubing up "inside" the old frame and welded it all up. You can see the zig-zag of where the old frame ended just behind the shackle mount, and the fish plate on the inside forward more. Way mo' betta than the OG frame.

yeah but you dont have your shocks coming off the top of your axle that puts them wayyy more in the dry hump zone

Yeah it's wrong since they didn't move from the full bump position. It was explaining how the bump stops had to bottom out first - this was around the end of a 14-15 hour day and powerpoint isn't going to droop them out for me lol.
