It was definitely something lol not too hard just alot of extra work.

It'll happen for sure at some point along with a downpipe but just enjoying it for now.

 

Got my 5 lug up and running. Just need to figure out why both o2 sensor heaters won’t work. It’s fine once up to temp for a few hours then throws sensor heater codes. Drove it 900 miles into WTX last night. pic is from home, definitely not WTX. LOL.

 

Idk if any of you guys have heard of using a shop vac to test for leaks but it works great! Attach the hose to the blow side and plug it in your tailpipe. Get some soapy water and start squirting!

 

Broken wires, or just bad sensors?

Not sure really. OEM aren’t cheap. I swapped in the primary from my Jetta, same motor, and got the same code for primary. I couldn’t a find proper pin out online yet to test the harness but I am still looking. Weird how it is both of them.

 

Now that is puzzling.

How many wires go to the o2 plug?

 

Primary has 5 wires but 6 prongs and downstream has 4. I’m on night shift again and have been reading until my eyes hurt. Apparently the gurus at VW/Audi decided to tie both sensor heaters together so if one fails they both fail for heating. I didn’t swap/replace my downstream just my primary. I found a pin out and method to check ohms on a 4 wire so I’ll try that soon.

 

They engineered a purpose for people to go back to the dealership.

 

Still have a few things to do but this is how it's looking. Thinking about just doing away with the BOV all together, unless it screws with MAF too much. Would be convenient not having to plumb it in somewhere. For now it's a plug lol.

I'm very happy with the how well the radiator fit.

 

That looks fantastic. I highly recommend keeping the BOV, if at all possible. The turbo's life span will thank you.

 

Just picked up the turbo header from the ceramic coater, Polydyn. For @BassAckwards build. Turned out terrific.

 

Took it for a drive and didnt hear any turbo flutter with the 5.5psi its building now. Its a $100 ebay turbo so I'm not terribly worried about it.

First impressions, I can pull the hill north of town in 5th now. The butt dyno tells me its got a little more pep. Should have done a 0-60 with and without the cooler. Its not fast by any means but faster than it was.

Then give it all she's got, until that time comes, and enjoy it thoroughly! Not sure how the OEM (?)timing maps work with knock control on your year models, but if it isn't sensing anything, you should get additional timing now, versus before. At minimum extra power from a cooler charge alone.

And yes. In my humble opinion, MUCH better than the Chinese one.

 

Looks like I need to start making those as well. You're the 2nd person recently to bring that up.

I would have to do a slight re-design for shipping.

 

Should I try running 2 of these on my 1gr? I’m getting false knock due to aftermarket pistons?
