NO! These trucks can fit 285's with minimal trimming of plastic. No need for the CMC if you do it correctly!

 

I see your lift your specs are similar to mine except I'm sticking with 16"s ... so no CMC required? is there a wrong way to do this?

 

YES! If you have wheels that have too much offset, or if you get UCAs that add CASTER. Adding Caster moves your tires toward the rear and will make the tire rub on the cab mounts more.

 

I'm adding Bilstein UCAs.. how much will this effect it? I don't think the Bilstein UCAs have high casters

 

Man I like that bedrack setup. How did you get 4 bars with the uptop rack??

 

Thats why I am thinking I might be ok making the step from 265 to 285. Im on about 2.5'' lift and have the JBA UCAS too. 16x8 w/ o offset wheels.

 

I think the JBA's have high casters.. is that correct?

 

Thank you! It’s their rack they make specifically to mount to a Diamondback cover. It uses the 4 cleats per side as a mounting point, which is why it comes with a 4th bar. And the Diamondback can still open with the medium height, without the tent installed of course.

 

So these rims alone wont give me the same stance? Im new to the rim/lift world. Do spacers negatively effect performance or reliability?

 

No.. spacers are perfectly fine as long as their quality made spacers.. but lifting, bigger tires.. will of course effect driving performance and MPGs.. alignments are very important

 

I have heard the ride quality is largely dependant on the type of tire installed. For my future dream build I dont plan on going for more than a 3 inch lift. Liking the looking of the 33 KO2’s as well. Just trying to find an OEM rim that gives a nice stance

 

How much lift you running? Looks awesome

 

33's look the best on Taco's but it will kill your MPG's.. weight is a big factor

 

Here is a picture of the trimming I had to do. Very minimal. that is the rear of the front wheel well. If you seen an untrimmed piece there it is just 1" further.

 

I believe that both of these are designed to add Caster. This will add to the rubbing issue, and will give excessive Caster.

I am running the Camburg UCA. They say it corrects caster/camber but not sure if this is why I had to trim a little. Either way it was a small amount of trimming and the truck articulates pretty well.

 

Yup. Exactly what I had to trim with mine but I did have to add some 1.5” spacers.

Basically what everyone else has said, double check so you get the right stuff regarding castor and offset and you can definitely fit 285/75/16 without a lift and CMC. Trim this plastic piece like we did and you can maybe even avoid spacers. I needed them and I liked the slight poke. I’m a fan of wide and low over tall and lifted plus I like the truck running like it was built to (as much as possible with all of our mods at least) so avoiding the CMC / lift is easily done but also like everyone has said, if you’re getting them get good spacers!! There’s no harm if you go high quality.

 

Nice! Just ordered mine. Got mid height but I don’t have a bed cover. I’ll only have my RTT on when using it but did the bed rack alone affect MPGs? It looks pretty light compared to some of the others I looked at. Maybe 55 lbs?

 

Awesome! In my opinion they make the best looking rack, and I like that rust will never be an issue.

I think I saw my rack is somewhere around 60 pounds. With the diamondback and RTT I’m around 300-330ish. I didn’t notice any drop in MPGs until I had my 285s mounted. And even that doesn’t seem to be much of a drop, maybe 1-2 MPGs.

That said, I don’t do much driving since I work from home. Did less than 7k in my 1st year with the truck, so MPGs aren’t a major concern for me

 

Ok, so, I swapped out my stock Off Road suspension for TRD Pro Fox's front and rear, and added an AAL in the rear. Kept the stock UCAs. You guys think I can fit 285's like this???
