Ive been researching 3rd gen double cab subwoofer box options for a few weeks now. I stumbled upon a company that custom makes Toyota Tacoma subwoofer boxes. They are called Maui Sounds. They sell a subwoofer box for 3 6.5's facing down and claim to be the loudest/best sub box for 2005-2020 double cab Tacomas. Im very interested in purchasing one of their boxes with the 3 6.5's, does anyone have one or know anything about their box for the tacoma?

If anyone knows any better options for a 2017 double cab tacoma lmk. trying to look at all my options before I purchase.

I know that $1400 (plus $280 shipping) for a box and 3 baby speakers is a lot.

call mr Marv and he’ll take care of you

i would really suggest something other than that maui sounds box. $700 is really steep for an mdf bedlined box, and you still need to irreplaceably alter the child restraint points.

Those are already gone on my truck for my current setup. I don’t have children. And they can easily be welded back at a later date.

But I hear ya! I do have a local box builder that I also plan on taking with. Thanks for the feedback.

not legally. my sister in law is a registered car seat tech. any alteration to those attachment points renders them illegal attachment points. welcome to the hellscape of vehicle regulations-- only OEM's are allowed to alter vehicle safety equipment--alteration to such equipment post-manufacture renders the entire structure unsuitable for use.

I agree that is a lot of $ for the Maui box . Way to much for me so i built mine. I am running 4 6.5" Mesos ( the updated versions) and they det down. Ive had a bunch of diff subs of various sizes throughout the years amd These are my fav sub setup

3 6.5" subwoofer in ported box behind the rear seat playing up to 137.6 decibels
$1400 may seem steep compared to other sub boxes on the market, but please consider this is not just a one time designed box like 90% of the boxes online are. We really do care about the sound. We have revised this tacoma box many many times over 4 years time. We have tried all of the following combinations in search of the loudest , deepest, and most accurate bass. We tried all of the following combinations (4) 6.5" - (3) 6.5" - (3) 8" - (2) 8" - (3) 10" - (2) 10" - (3) 12" - (2) 12" - (1) 12" and the 3 6.5" hits the lowest, loudest and cleanest.

Here is a link to a video showing the decibel readings and frequency being played at the same time.

Main problem with firing foward is the seat cushion absorbs alot of the energy , With down firing to the frame of the truck "hard surface" the bass is able to load into the cab much more efficiently.

Hope that makes sense, and thank you to anyone who has purchased
