Sorry forgot to add that, I have the OEM Trd Lift Kit shocks installed with stock SR5 coil springs and a HS 1.5” 3 Leaf AAL with a Leer 100XL topper. Came out to 2.25” in the front due to me being 2wd and 1.25” in the rear. They said no worries about the front or rear suspension since it was professionally installed, but they would not warranty the shocks, coil springs, or leaf springs. I’ve been going to this dealer for a long time and they always have honored warranties or previous vehicle with zero issue or arguing.

When it comes to warranty a good dealer can make all the difference, but even they can only advocate for you when Toyota sends a specialist or Corporate decides not to honor the warranty because they see an aftermarket part and say it caused the failure. Some of us are lucky and have a good service department, but not all of them are customer advocates.

My wife has a Subaru and they have went as far as to send official communications to dealers that even something like different tires than the factory equipped ones can lead to failures that aren't covered.

I am not saying the TRD lift is the only way to go. There are plenty of cheaper and better options out there. It's all a personal choice for what we are comfortable with. I have a feeling 90 percent of those on this thread that chose the TRD lift did so because it was an OEM accessory (and any thing damaged by a failure related to) that would be covered for either 1/12k or the factory 3/36.

They are not an orginal equipment on the Tacoma. Were talking about the lift from TRD being OEM which is not an orginal factory equipped part. The truck was not born with it. They are not an orginal parts design but since they are made by a 3rd party they are considered aftermarket.

My example was referencing the 4Runner Pro and not the Tacoma Pro. The pro wheels on the 4Runner are not factory equipped either, but yet they are considered an OEM part for the Pro. I could use the same example for the Tacoma Pro, because I am sure the wheels and tires are put on at the Port as well.

OEM parts in the automotive world are not the same as other industries. Many of the parts for put on at the factory are made by a third party so them being considered aftermarket is simply not true. Any in many cases some of the parts on our trucks are added at the port and not the factory.

I get the point you are trying to make, but in this case it is a Toyota approved TRD part that is covered by a warranty and will not cause Toyota to deny a claim if those parts lead to a failure in say your CV axles or the needle bearing (when it does fail.)

many parts on these trucks (or any other vehicle) are not manufactured by Toyota. IMO anything sold by Toyota is OEM, even if it’s not manufactured by Toyota specifically or on the truck when you buy it. I 100% guarantee you Toyota considers the lift kit and all other Toyota/TRD parts OEM. That’s the general consensus of what the term means in the automotive industry.

Semantics aside, everyone that reads this thread will see the undeniable fact that you can get a better lift for the price you pay for the TRD lift or you can get a comparable lift for cheaper. No one is denying that. Value is different because someone will see value in something that others don't. It is their truck and their money to spend.

Opinions vary, I still disagree. The TRD shocks are not a factory installed shock, they are marketed by TRD. It clearly says TRD tuned by Bilstein. I'm out, enjoy your trucks and shocks.

Dealer installed the lift yesterday. I’m extremely happy with it. We only went 1 1/2” in the front instead of the 2”. Don’t mind the dent on the bumper. Got hit by a drunk. AE751A65-74A8-48FE-90DD-D49537D62D3C.jpg

Yep. They come set on the 2” ring, but they are adjustable.

Oo sweet. I did not know that. I saw some text that said up to 2" but I took it as depending on the model it was installed on. Thanks for the reply.

    Orale!

I bought the Empyre Off-Road Grill & Garnish but have not installed it...after reviewing TW and tagging this thread, I want to wait until I can schedule the TRD Lift through the local dealership.

I've already done the legwork on getting the best purchase price & install. Turns out, all the dealerships here in Delaware prefer you order the kit through their location...which I'm fine with. What I found was the least expensive labor charge ($750) with one catch. The dealership has not done a TRD Lift at its location but I wouldn't be intimidated by that...because they guarantee/warranty their work.

So, I'll be selling my Empyre kit (I'm keeping the Smoked Raptor Lights) eventually and will gladly wait for my TRD Lift as I've just installed OEM LED Headlights last week!

What page has the individual shock part numbers? I got screwed buying a still listed shock only kit during the Toyota sale and had the order cancelled. This thread has way too many pages and none of the necessary part numbers on the first page

    Where did you order from?
    Was it available and shipped?
This post has the shocks together as one kit. Now it’s sold as individual shocks.
