    As it happened, that was in PA on I-81 somewhere south of Wilkes-Barre.

    That doesn't include the deductible, as that's a quote from my insurance company; They're gonna go after the scrapyard's insurance company...

    And this morning I changed my policy so I will not have a deductible for any future comprehensive cases; This includes a tree falling on my truck during a storm, if I hit a deer, etc...

    90% of my stress was coming from worrying about whether or not the truck would be totaled, and that's obviously not an issue now!

    Good to see a fair resolution in sight my man. Were it 40 years ago it could've been worse. Most of the scrapyards in metro Philly, like in NYC, were mob-owned. Many served as notorious burial grounds for mob victims. You may have had a harder time being reimbursed for your loss. No cameras or cellphones back then; no one saw you enter & no one saw you leave. :eek:

    Especially if it was caused by some union equipment operator with mob connections; This place is on the up and up in my opinion (though their insurance carrier is pretty useless as I'm finding out), and they even have a location in Philly, but I wouldn't surprised if there are some mafia-owned scrapyards in the city that they use for laundering money and hiding bodies!

    @Red Alert

    I've been absolutely fascinated with the mob, especially the Italian Mafia/La Cosa Nostra, for years. I love mob movies and reading books about the mafia; I am a shameless fan of The Sopranos and have rewatched the series probably four times since I first saw the Season 4 finale in a rerun on A&E back in 2007! What about you?

    FYI, the season 4 closer is called Whitecaps; Edie Falco won an Emmy for her performance as Carmela Soprano in the scene where she and Tony get into a fight after she finds out Tony was cheating on her again. One of my favorite episodes!

    I've never seen The Sopranos but I have seen quite a few mob flicks over the years. I have extensive knowledge of mob history going back to the 1920s. Hollywood loves to mint money glamorizing these pricks. The history is fascinating, but never forget that these scumbags make their $$$ by robbing & extorting regular hard-working folks. And especially in their heyday they caused increases in the prices of many goods & services that honest people need to survive.

    That’s an unfortunate event. The worst part is not having your truck while it’s being repaired. Hope the rental company gives you something nice.

    Have you heard of this?

    I can think of one good thing that came out of a gangland takeover; In the 1920s, Al Capone monopolized the milk business in Chicago after kidnapping the head of the milk wagon driver's union. It was Capone's company, Meadowmoor Dairies, that pioneered the concept of sell-by dates.

    Are they gonna repair the body damage too, or just repaint the truck? :rofl::D (I swear, I crack myself up sometimes!)

    I'm aware. His intent was to make more $$$, not to further the public good.

    I accidentally drank sour milk once, and I'm glad they have sell-by dates; Ever since that incident, which was like 20 years ago, I refuse to drink milk that is even a day past the sell-by date!
