    Woo. That's a stinky market.

In other news, I'm trying to find an outdoor storage cabinet for my deck that isn't a giant piece of shit. Do they even make those anymore or do I just need to call a cabinet carpenter and get ready to hand over a grand?

That article is just common sense when you look at the data, less workers, less production and delivery, less supply, higher prices. I read all articles with skepticism regardless of source and others are saying similar things. Less supply, higher prices, inflation. Lived through that more than once over the years. Look back at the oil/gas shortages of the 70s and the impact that had. No conspiracy theories required.

You tell me what the going rate is, but even $1000 for a single cabinet seems a bit steep.

Seriously though, the stuff on the shelves/Amazon is all plastic crap that breaks in a stiff breeze. I love DIYing but finish carpentry really does require all those one-off tools that would never, ever justify their purchase cost unless you use them to make money professionally.

I just need a metal or wood head height single compartment cabinet to keep some tiki canisters and grillling accoutrement in....

Just got a car at carvana yesterday that was $3,300 below the dealers price.

Dealerships are hurting for inventory just as bad or worse.

    It’s not a carvana thing.

Seems like if cabinet makers are charging $1k per, that those one-off tools get pretty affordable after shitting out just a few cabinets?

I'm all for biting off too much, spending more than necessary, and being left overprepared for anything in the future, though.

Carvana and Vroom are part of the “thing”. Go price out a Tacoma on Carvana. Last year they offered me 4k more than I paid new. They sell at a higher price. And yes, dealers jackin up prices as well. Back to the supply and demand I spoke of in previous posts.
When big companies start cornering a big part of the market, they jack up the prices. Exactly what Carvana and a Vroom are doing.
