Ok, pleasantly surprised by HF help line. Only on hold for about 5 minutes, got a person who spoke well and understood what I was saying and the issue. It's been sent to a "senior tech" and I'm waiting for him to call me back. In the meantime, I went back out and thought I may have a washer that would work. I didn't, but it wouldn't matter. With the back washer on there isn't room on the arbor for one in the front. The back washer is necessary as without it the wheel does rub.

What else could it be? I put the wheel on and spun it without the nut. While it spun well, I heard a faint whooshing noise. I put the nut on finger tight and spun it again. The whooshing noise was noticeably louder and the wheel only made 2 1/2 rotations before stopping (I drew an indexing line across the bearing, from inner race to outer race, and counted rotations). When I fully snugged the nut down it couldn't do 1 rotation and the noise was much louder, coming from the bearing. I'm guessing one of the bearings is bad, but not sure why the nut position would affect it. I don't know enough about the inner structure to guess. Waiting on the call back... hopefully if this is it they will send a replacement wheel ASAP and not expect me to replace the bearings myself.

Can anyone make a recommendation for a legit accurate angle finder protractor? Will be starting out with replacing baseboards in my home and later on small wood puzzles.

New favourite tool at the moment ...

I'm trimming out my current client build and picked up one of the 'baby' versions of the FastCap Gluebot glue bottle , awesome little addition to my finishing kit . No run on from the nozzle so I don't have to worry about accidentally dripping glue all over myself and the job

Quick update - haven't heard back from HF rep (not surprising since it's the weekend). I got everything on, including the urethane tires. I didn't have a metric socket big enough to remove the bottom wheel (nut is bigger than 1 inch) so I had to install the tire on the wheel in place. PIA factor x2.

Regarding the top wheel, the washer not listed in schematics and the wheel rubbing. After trying different combinations the only place it could go is between the back of the wheel and the frame. I tightened the nut finger tight then another 1/16th or so with the socket wrench. I ran it for a bit, kept checking, cut a few pieces, checked again, etc. Everything looked good and no terrible sounds. If it wears out the bearing prematurely I can replace it.

I fired it up and it runs great. I really don't have a reference as this is my first bandsaw, plus I put in the urethane tires, cool blocks and accu-link belts. So, my experience would be different than a stock saw. I put on a 3/8" 6-TPI blade as a general purpose blade and have a Wood Slicer 1/2" 3/4-TPI blade on order for re-sawing. That said, I re-sawed a 1-1/2" piece of pine with the 3/8" blade and it didn't go as easy as I would have thought. I do believe there is too much slack in the belts and will tighten them up, plus it's not really the right blade for re-sawing. When I ran 3/4 pine through it and just cut straight or curved lines it worked well.

Not quite done in this pic but close

So I helped my son make a cutting board. He’s giving it to his girlfriend for Valentine’s Day. I hope she likes it.C34146E5-845C-44B2-B3D5-CB38CA30B0BC.jpg

Thanks, just sanded to 220, then 4-5 coats of mineral oil and board butter to finish it off.
It’s made of Walnut, Curly Walnut, Curly Maple, Cherry and Purpleheart.

Question for the hive.... We finally closed on our house, and we'll be moving in in April ish. It's a 12 year old home, that really is in awesome shape. Fingers crossed, there shouldn't be alot of DIY repairs to do. So i'm hoping to have my 'fix it' time focused more on useful additions for the living space. Already on the list of need/wants, are some basic kid beds and an outdoor dining table. Nothing super fancy but "prideful" I guess is the best way to describe.
The question for y'all is, how to you pick what comes first, once the 'Honey-do' list has subsided? Easiest/cheapest/quickest first? Or do you focus on value (ie what's the most important/useful gets done first)

I go by necessity, as in what I need first. Or I just do what I feel like doing.

I have to finish some crown molding, trim, and a cabinet door so we can list the house on the market. But I'd rather build my son's crib.
