Interesting indeed - I saw on here a post that mentioned that they are producing 10 units per week - can't find it right now but I remember reading it.... and if that is accurate then you may get yours (#211) earlier than planned? Now I'm hoping that mine will be ready May 6th - I've already made plans...

Trip Report: The Kimbo works at the beach. Stayed nice and cool inside all day, surf was fantastic.

 

Looks amazing. I have one more big winter hut trip and then I'll be ready for some beach action too.

 

Hut trip sounds awesome. I still have some ski trips planned, I have found that switching from warm to cold and visa versa with the Kimbo is super easy, really just a repack of gear and clothing.

 

Nelsonator, Looks like a real nice day at San'O - thanks for sharing the pics! So where did you stow the longboard?

 

Shower performing up to par for ya? Looks like a great setup!

 

I just used a rinse kit and a 5 gallon water jug. I didn't bring the shower hoses and pump, so the Joolca didn't get used. I still need to make some modifications to the Joolca setup so that the shower setup is fast and doesn't require a bunch of hose wrangling. I'll let ya'll know once I get the shower setup the way I'd like it.

 

Chiming in, I'm #207 with a "production finished date" of April 22nd, which was from my last email from them October 2nd. So, they're going to get another 40 done by May 6th? They must've hired some help to catch up, because that works out to 40 units in 2 weeks. That almost sounds too fast unless they've incorporated some streamlined assembly processes.

 

interesting - thanks for chiming in. This is from an email from Collin dated Jan 12, 2022 "Your Kimbo serial number is 247 and your completion date is 5/6/2022"

We know that #200 is getting completed April 4th so maybe yours will be a few weeks ahead of schedule?

 

I confirmed with Collin yesterday that #211 will be ready for pickup May 4th. Something's fishy, but I couldn't get it anytime sooner anyway so I'll just press the I Believe button

 

There are any number of possible explanations, I know that there are many variables in any production schedule, the most obvious would be supply - there may be units that are being held back due to the fact that certain items are temporarily unavailable like maybe refrigerators or AC units and rather than build those units and have them taking up space on the production floor, they may build units that they can complete- in other words they may not be completing them in numerical order due to supply issues out off their control. This is just a hypothesis but I'm sure there is a logical explanation - Collin confirmed my very specific completion date just a month ago and he seems very organized and professional. My #247 is pretty much a base model...In any case, I believe that it will work out for everyone.

interesting and makes sense our #248 from an email on 1/13/22 has a completion date of 10/13/22. We are getting all packages except AC and shower. I wish we were getting ours 5 months earlier!

 

In response to "Howls moving castle" question on the jacking assembly size.....yes, the will across the back seat of the tacoma with room to spare....not sure why you would want to do that as most of us have taken them off for weight savings........cheers

 

Just got an update that my April 22nd completion date has been pushed back to May 9th. I'm #207 for reference if anyone is tracking where you may be in the process comparatively. I am not having the kitchen built nor am I having the fridge installed. I did ask for 200w of solar on the roof and the MaxAir fan if that gives any context to interested observers here. We're getting closer, and I thank my personal god that we are not in Canada with that crazy moonbat dictator-wannabe screwing up the works. Things are bad enough as it is. Aloha

Hello everyone! Been following this thread for about 14 months while researching Kimbo's. It has been incredibly helpful and informative so thank you for creating this. Finally received my camper (#156) and decided to join the group. Look forward to taking it on it's maiden voyage soon!

 

Voltron, how has the side mounted thule ski rack been working out for you? Are those hooks working out to hold the skis up so as to make it a one person job? If so, mind sending a link for where to purchase?

 

They have been working great. Boards stay clean up there too during shity road conditions. The hooks help when its just one pair but hang too low for a snowboard. I'll have to figure out something to help with that. Just got back from a trip and my pair and my GF's snowboard when up there nicely and were very secure. Used the step stool and held mine while she handed me her board. The big bonus was the rack was only $40 on craigslist.

The hooks were in HomeDepot, forgot the aisle but should be easy to find.

 

The hooks would work well with two pairs of skis I think, but with a snowboard it's too low.

 

Well I don't associate with those snowboard folk, so shouldn't be an issue...

I appreciate the response though, the option that kimbo is offering seems way overbuilt and hangs out further with those added brackets which probably doesn't help with wind resistance, and could also block the view from the window on the right side.
