Leer topper shifting/bending bolts???

    Yep, copy that. A couple weeks after throwing the cap on I noticed a couple of the bolts were already loose. I had cinched them down snug to begin with. Two or three weeks later they were loose yet again. Enough of that shit, who the hell needs to constantly worry if their cap is gonna fly off down the freeway?

    With hardware like that, I would be worried about over-torquing. Remember that the bottom skirt of the cap is fiberglass. It could crack, which you don't want to happen. One thing that clamps do is spread out the force over a couple of inches' width. The Leer bolts do the opposite of that: they concentrate the force in one spot. Not only that, but the holes in the skirt that the bolts pass through weaken it further. Bad engineering on the part of Leer.
