    as you can tell i like doing polls to see what other people prefer, sliders look cool and everything but they are very expensive for (shrocks), so for the person that doesnt off-road unless you count the field or groomed trails so are sliders really worth the money or just get a nice set of tube steps, or keep it plain, money is an issue here so if you go with sliders its gonna take awhile to save up for those.

    I just bought sliders (haven't mounted them yet) but I did it mainly for a HiLift jack point. I'll wheel it as soon as I find out where I can go, but I'm not gonna do crazy wheelin' like silverback07. That's why I opted for All Pros. Little cheaper, no 10-week lead time, and they can be somewhat used as side steps too... :)

    sliders are steel tube configured in any number of ways that run along the base of the body of your truck from wheel well to wheel well...they are normally used for offroad trucks to prevent large objects from slamming into the body and making the doors impossible to use...however lately a more urban application has presented itself as when they are mounted out correctly they will successfully stop many car doors and shopping carts from banging your truck

    now heres one for yall, who makes the best bolt on sliders for the money? shrocks are 600 delivered to me anyone know how much all-pro, demello, or trail gear lets here some opinions

    I bought All Pro sliders. Just over $500 shipped to me ($399 + shipping). Now I just have to find a good welder and have them welded on... :)

    TG are going to be cheapest...then all-pro...demello and shrock will be a tossup as to whos the most expensive...if you have an offroad shop or a metal fab guy nearby you might look into custom jobs...my custom ones were $375

    Tube steps look like ass after a while. The plastic on them curls and looks like trash. I hate them. If I had the cash I'd get sliders. Since I don't I have factory running boards installed. Don't add much to the look, but they help protect the truck on road driving from salt and extra debris that the mudflaps miss.

    A few bolts are different.
    Man I want some Shrockworks, that said I'll also say, do I need them at this point in time? well not really. Am I still Paying for my truck? Yes. Will I need them when I'm finished paying for my truck and wheelin the hell outa it because i can afford to fix things I break? Hell Yea.

    To sum it all up the factory steps do nothing, Shrockworks protects the entire side of my truck. I want'em.

    How about the factory running boards? Are they worth it? I like the look of them better than tubs steps. Is there any thing similar that is better quality.

    A few bolts are different.
    They work great for me right now to have access to the roof rack, they also kinda work like mudflaps for the side of my truck since i just deflapped. My girlfriend uses them every time she gets in my truck so she likes them. As far as taking the force of a rock or any other pressure greater then a human foot there not going to protect much.

    I think I'm sold. I don't do any off roading and like the access they give you to the roof. Is factory the way to go or is there any aftermarket ones that would suffice. I think they are like $250 from toyota
