Axle talk while you mentioned it, how do you like your Harrop/Eaton elockers?

 

Ran the rear locker a bunch and it’s flawless. Only used the front a few times and thus far it’s been awesome

 

How necessary is it to be able to pull the fuel cell out in the future? I don’t want to cage myself in if it’s something I’d need to pull more often than cutting a couple tubes to make room is worth. I don’t know why I’d need to pull it at all, but trying to think ahead. Will keep plenty of access to the pump and fittings.

 

I personally like having the ability to remove all my parts.

 

I’ve got some triangles that sure would look good around that area. Maybe I can squeeze it out with the coilovers off or something. Not a huge deal to cut tube if it’s something you don’t touch for a decade maybe. I never touched the stock tank until boxing the frame.

Use tube couplers , makes no sense to have to cut a tube to remove a serviceable part. I used this style on my bed cage so I would still be able to remove my bed if needed

I used those and pin/socket style on my tractor (removable guard on front to protect hydraulic pump) and on the roll cage of my '40 (removable front bars to have easier access to engine). They work well, remember to orient them so the machined faces take potential stress and not the bolts.

 

Why on earth would you even consider boxing a serviceable item in to the point you would have to cut it out? Makes absolutely no sense.

 

Valid question. How often do folks pull a fuel cell anyways? I’d be able to get it out from the top with what I have in mind, so it’s not an issue. Just curious.

 

It doesn’t matter how often it’s pulled. It just matters that it can be pulled. Why would you box something in when there’s a way to not? Just seems like shortcutting to me.

 

I figured out a way around it. It’s deceivingly tight back there with a double cab believe it or not

 

You need to build a cradle. Watch some videos. Bolt either the cradle to the cage or the cell to the cradle - look at some nicer builds. Wings World has an OBS F150 with a mid mounted cell that’s nice.

 

I’ve got a mount from Motobilt if that’s what you mean. Cell sits inside of it.

 

Is there something I need to know about before considering long travel?

Does it have straps like a battery hold down?

 

Gonna need that if you can’t work on things yourself or don’t have a fat wallet
