Hope you don't me picking your brain publicly here. Just trying to save somebody else from asking the same question.

I installed my bumper this past weekend. Followed measurements and it came out pretty good. How much gap is there between the tube bumper and the plastic? I couldn't seem to locate that information anywhere. Currently I can slide a folder piece of paper all the way through so it's not resting, just not sure if i need to have more space for any movement/damage?

I assume you have the SSO with the stage II tube "wings". If you want "zero" rubbing, you would have to have about a 1/2" gap. Anything less, when the truck flexes, the frame will move independently from the body and it will make contact. See the post below.

However, I would not want that large of a gap and would accept that a certain amount of rubbing will happen at full flex. With a "folder's" worth of gap, it will probably still rub the powder coat off. I might shoot for 1/4" and then try to use the edge trim to fill it.

Ultimately, I've come to accept a certain amount of gap as "looking right". If you need convincing, go look at your tailgate. You can literally see into the bed area with the gaps on the side. It's just how these trucks are...

    Thank you

Thank you! I'll be taking it off and cutting more then.

edit: have tube bumper. I don’t think that’ll matter with the cut measurements being the same?

I trimmed mine down a fair amount more than the instructions said to and it’s still rubbing the powder coat off and rusting. I plan to just keep touching it up with rustoleum for now. At some point I will probably try to trim more but I think to keep it from rubbing you would need a pretty good sized gap.

I wonder if a Thermoplastic powder coating would last longer? It would definitely be easier to touch up.
