That's really an impressive useable mid range improvement. I wonder if it is mostly the leaner mixture vs your stock ECU. How much, if any timing was added in those ranges?

It’s a combination of everything, NOT the mixture but mostly in the timing numbers and fuel map.
Gabe spent a good amount of time finding the sweet spot on BETTER SAFE timing numbers and adjustments.
The Haltech you have 100 percent control of every part of your tune.
This power gain is from the haltech tune as every thing else was the same from a year ago

Wow that HP dip from 2.5-3.5k still... I wonder if it'd be worth it to detune prior to that point so it feels more linear?

You're also very rich (stock is insanely rich) in the low RPMs, presumably due to no intercooler. I wonder what the alternative would yield. Modern turbo engines can stay in the 12s until about 20 PSI on 91.

I officially want a Haltech, but they're far outside my price range at the moment.

Plans to raise redline to 6 - 6500? Not sure where valve float becomes a legitimate problem.

Probably, that can be cleaned up with fine tuning the tune, it’s a process to get a perfect

Got the final tune done yesterday.
Here's the new haltech dyno over last months dyno and last year's stock ECU dyno.
The area you mentioned is good now that dipped and max power is 282 up from 275,
Also picked up 7 -8 torque hp more in the 4krpms to 5600rpms up from the tune last month.

Total Haltech improvement over the stock ECU with methanol is 62 Lbs and 35hp added to the midrange power curve for me!

I'm really excited to have such great results just from a tune and nothing else added,
Haltech is the tune to get the most out of your supercharger.
Gabe at snpspeed.com knocked it out of the ball park 4 me.
    282hp-305lbs torque without methanol,

    300LBS torque at 3100rpms

This is awesome. I'd love to see you do a POV video of casual driving with some strong accelerations here and there. Kind of like they do with the Autobahn videos like these https://youtu.be/BiNVR0YFW6A?t=360

Hey Haltech fans. Got a question about the Innovate PSB-1 gauge install I am working on. This wideband gauge has 10 connections coming out it's backside. I have a question about the use of two of those connection with the Haltech.

The two, 4 prong connections are labeled Serial "in" and "out" in the Innovate manual.

    2 2x4 plug.jpg
    1 2x4 plug.jpg

The manual refers to using these with the Innovate LM Programmer Logworks 3 software package.

My question is, are you using these connections with your Haltech setup. If not, what did you do with them?

I can answer this from an Innovate perspective. I reached out to them about the serial protocol they used several years ago and they basically told me it was proprietary and would only work with Logworks. Not sure I believe them, but "officially" they don't interface with anything else.

Would be interested in hearing if anyone's had success otherwise.

I suspect that I will not need these with the Haltech but I was hoping to be certain of that.

There is so much stuff coming off the back of the gauge, I was hoping to just lop those off so they don't interfere so much with my A pillar mount.

I think my SCG-1 has an O2 out separately, at least, and that should interface. But ya there's a buttload of stuff back there that makes it hard to mount.

Just ordered one of these. Gabe asked me a few questions and determined the Elite 750 was best.

While we were small talking I told him I’d read about them online but didn’t specify this forum or @1997tacomav6 by name but he seemed to know about this thread and who I was talking about.

Looking forward to seeing it in action.

You will be very happy and pleasantly surprised with the new power and a perfect tune.
I have two threads that I posted,
One here and on Facebook trd supercharger,
There is a ton more interest on that forum with people that have just trd superchargers and a good amount of new buyers of this kit there.
It’s a good forum to join.

are you going to use the methanol with this setup for reducing heat?

Yes - it's already installed I'm not taking it off. I've read most if not all of what you posted about it here & all of the benefits appeal to me.

I'm going to add this here for anyone wondering. I've looked it up three times now to remind myself, so here it is:

5VZ has two common plugins for Haltech: 750 and 2000. Here are the differences in context of the 5VZ:

Haltech 750 ($2700 from LCE) Benefits over Factory ECU:
    • Flex Fuel capable (E85)
    • 6 independent ignitions and fuel outputs (not really relevant because you'll still be using wasted spark coil packs unless an upgrade comes out)
    • Datalogging
    • Waterproof
    • 30PSI compatible, with "3D" boost control (not sure what maps, probably RPM and load?)
    • 16x32 tuning table
    • Basic water injecton
    • Single-stage nitrous control

    You lose:
    • Knock control
    • Drive by wire if you had it (I think some 03-04s had this?)
    You keep:
    • Fuel Learning (better with Haltech due to wideband O2 requirement)
    • Ignition/Timing Learning (probably better on the Haltech though due to the very limited way the factory ECU adjusts timing) (I do not know how the 750 learns this without knock control)

Haltech 2000 ($3030 from LCE (+$330)) Benefits on top of Haltech 750:

    • 32x32 tuning table (double the resolution of the 750)
    • Traction control (presumably you need ABS from the factory)
    • Launch control (presumably you need ABS to take full advantage)
    • Anti-lag (for turbocharged)
    • "Advanced" water injection
    • Boost learning (not sure what this means, but assuming you set a target and it tries to reach it depending on atmospheric conditions)
    • Adds ethanol dimension to the tuning table ("4D") (probably requires additional ethanol sensor)
    • CAN bus for addons (like other Haltech products, maybe dash, etc)
    • Can use dual bank O2 sensors (ie: 5VZ can run two independent exhaust headers with management on cylinders 1,3,5 and 2,4,6 presumably)
    You gain back:
    • Knock control (x2) and emergency retard

    Good info to post,

why are you saying you lose knock control?
The knock control is totally adjustable from what I saw on my tune.
    Unless I missed something.
There is a drop drown menu for knock sensor too if I remember,
If I remember the stock knock sensor setup I had was a 3 degree range and Gabe change that setting on mine to something else to get more timing.
So I know that part of the knock sensor was changed on my tune.

you should down load the program from haltech and play around with the menu to see everything it does.
Did you download the haltech software?
There is soooo much info in the software from 100s of small settings that can be adjusted.
You really have to be a programmer to understand them all.
Im definitely not an expert on the tuning or anything close,
Just learning as the tune was done.
