Replacing Running Daylight Bulbs in 2007 Tacoma

I need to replace my burnt amber color "Daytime Running Light bulb" in my 2007 Tacoma.
I heard it is better to replace it with daylight LED since it is blighter and cooler. I checked Amazon.com and they offer several of them. Some were returned to Amazon as they didn't FIT. If you replaced your DRL bulb with LED daylight bulb, can you please tell me the name brand? I believe the bulb is 194 A. Daytime Running lights in older Tacomas are not automatic. I have to turn the light on manually. They do not come on when I turn ignition on. Thank you!

 

They are automatic in my 07 Taco. I believe all DSR’s are auto. Tacos use signal lights as DRL. Dau Camry uses headlights.

3157A amber LEDs with resistors, to prevent hyperblink. That’s what I used.

Amber 194 on the park light. That’s what you’re calling the “running day light”. Look for ones that look like the original bulb. Most don’t fit the hole.

Unless my wiring is wrong from the manufacturer, in Tacomas, the turn signal lights double as DRL's. In your image, the lights marked as DRL are the parking lights, aka sidemarker lights. Those bulbs are too small to be used as DRL's. In most DRL modes, including the Tacomas (in my Taco at least), with the light switch in the off position and engine running, only the DRLs light up - no sidemarkers and no rear lights come on. In the Tacos with DRL's, the light assembly was a shitty design as the plastic part where the signal lights are at, melted through the plastic over time. I replaced mine long ago because of that. If you get LED signal bulbs, you will likely experience hyperflashing. You will need a new signal relay or wire in resistors to prevent hyperflashing.

 

It should read that DRLs are some times used with the signal lights; other times it's a dimmer version of the headlight system, as in my daughter's 06 Camry.

As I said before, I learned that I do not have DRL in my truck. The parking light quote was from google.
What I have is "Parking light and side marker lights". Like you said I have to remove the burned light bulb and replace it with the same. See the light chart in my Tacoma manual. i think "Chuy" has a newer Tacoma model since he has DRL. Thank you both for your help!

 

The outer single filament bulb is called a parking lamp or corner marker. It is a 194 or maybe 168

The inner bulb close to the grill is 4157NA. My 2015 has DRL so it is a dual filament bulb for turn signal and daytime running

 

Sport models come with DRL's, at least in 07 they did. Don't know if it was an option on non-sport models. I got rid of the orange bulbs and replaced them with clear 3157 bulbs.

On that chart, I see the 3157 bulb. But I do not see the bulb number for "Parking and front side marker lights"...weird. I need to remove and replace it with the same.

What you may want to do is see if you have DRLs factory installed, so you’re not constantly turning the switch.

1 - Start the engine
2 - Release the e-brake and put the truck in drive.
3 - Bac into park and re-engage the e-brake.
4 - Get out and check the signal lights to see if they are lit.

You have to be in drive and release the e-brake to engage the DRLs. My ‘06 has them.

I am posting this picture to correct the original picture. I do not have DRL in my truck. I have parking and front side marker lights. The amber lens below the parking light does not have a light. I think it is just for the look. I will purchase the bulb mentioned by Zman2k2. Thanks again.

Since I have to open the head light assembly to replace the parking light bulb, is it worth it to replace the head light bulb with a day light LED bulb? The lenses still look good as I keep the truck in the garage. Plus it still has less than 85k miles.

 

Don’t open your headlight up. There is a connector at the back of the headlight where your park light is. Twist and pull. Comes out with a long stalk. Bulb goes in the end. If you open the light, you’re asking for leaks.

LEDs don’t work well in halogen housings. They scatter light and blind other drivers. Use a halogen bulb.

 

No, don’t replace the headlights until you need to.

Replacing them in the truck can suck, there is a rubber boot that can give you a fit.
Plus, that “clip spring “ that holds them in is no fun trying to figure out if you’ve never done it before.
Once you do it the first time, it’s fairly simple.
