You're saying leave the connector unclipped? What does it do? (Or doesn't do once it's unclipped?). I was able to get all the connectors clipped in, with the nasty bend, but doesn't seem to strain anything too hard.

Same thing i did. I just tried pulling the oem harness towards the bottom more where it clips into the side of the dash.

No no — I’m just talking about the retaining clip that attaches the harness to the vehicle itself. Absolutely plug your harness in  unless you don’t care about your map/dome, ATRAC, VSC, sunroof, etc.

I decided to “unclip” my harness at the dash retainer location to create a more gentle bend in the harness. That way everything was able to remain clipped inside the a pillar location and didn’t require a harsh bend in anything.

I just did my install last night and I also have the two connectors. Talk about a huge pain in the ass. I was able to clip everything back in and I think it’s okay. I don’t even want to try to install puddle pods now haha

@kmorgan3 - I was planning on installing mine today but now thinking of just waiting for your revision instead of running on the same issue as others. Any ballpark when that will be available?

It’s not going to be anything ground breaking. You will remove the clip that retains the 25-pin from the bracket holding the 25-pin and the neighboring connector to the truck. Then you will connect the breakout harness per the instructions, and instead of putting it back into the retainer clip you’ll leave it loose and stuff the slack down into the a pillar (see Chloe’s video). Zip tie where appropriate. However, it’s still possible to get a clean install even with the harness re-clipped to the retainer:

I have the dual in my truck and it’s not a huge struggle. Feel free to cut more zip ties off to get yourself some slack but be extremely careful you don’t knick anything.

I had used 3M Velcro tape on the connector when I stalling the MESO puddle pods a few years ago - I had to pull the harness down as well to avoid the bulge - so I just used a new piece of Velcro when I swapped out the harness. Worked great and made the (re)placement easy.

The “hard” part as far as the A pillar is concerned is done now. You just have to clip in the puddle pods or switch into the T adapter and can now save all your focus, energy and swearing for fishing the wires through the door boot. :D

Maybe the few beers I had was making it slightly more difficult than it needed to be. So maybe less brews when I eventually do the puddle pods

Hey off topic but are you still happy with the puddle pods after a few years? I’m on the wait list for a set!

Absolutely! Still one of my favorite mods. Had zero problems with them and install went surprisingly smooth. Just take your time.

Ok Caribe a challenge. Maybe the same setup but use the overhead switch without running wires up to the switch. So turn the switch to the on position, all the lights that normally come on, come on including the new footwell lights. High or low I'm not sure without actually seeing the light output.
