Meh he's among friends here. These days paper temp license plates have the entire f*cking VIN written on them, which is dumb but whatever bureaucratic nonsense, I guess.

Lots of that nonsense in the world. I found out the other day AZ is issuing electronic titles instead of paper ones. I believe you can pay extra for a paper one, but who wants an electronic title for their vehicle?

People who hate the feeling of holding a piece of paper after paying off a car, I guess.

Or judging by all the Super Bowl commercials Crypto bros. Annoying weirdos all of them...

Speaking of the new age of unnecessary digitalization I've seen quite a bit of those digital license plates in California since I drive/fly down there more than I should.

Funniest car I've seen with one of those fancy LED plates was a Nissan Rogue lol

Doesn’t sound that bad. It depends on whether the possessor of the digital file is deemed the owner of the vehicle or only the name that is on the title. Meaning that the only way to change possession is to do it directly with the state and not by “signing over” the title. That would mean that you could have a digital copy in multiple locations, rather than having it in only one “safe” location.

I assume this is only with push to start? My compustar allows "key-takeover".

I had the viper DS4 15, minute run time, temp display on remote and LOOONG range, like inside the mall i could start it and get alerted if the somebody triggered the alarm. Getting in already running you just hit the brake and turn the key on just don't turn the starter and it didn't shut off. Only flaw was the alarm siren and the horn were out of sync when you lock/unlock. I think that was the installer though. I took it out of my totaled SR to find out it doesn't work on my new OR because of the push button. I would actually prefer a key start especially with the fact it shuts off when you open the door. I really don't need remote start though I'm in FL, not for another 800, it was for the air conditioning, freezing temps up north are really what its good for

There's the rub lol. Here in Colorado a person could have transferred their old license plate to their new car, but in the name of "safety" that's not allowed since Jan 1st so now every time you get a new car, you get the honor of paying for a new set of plates. Before I could have gotten a prorated credit for registration if I kept the same plates onto a new car, but now the calendar starts anew, so to speak.

Money grab just small enough to fly under the radar but still all the same...

About covering or closing off the air vents at the back of the cab…..and just thinking out loud here.

With these vents compromised in any way, there may be a real issue in venting large amounts of air extremely quickly out of the cab to allow the airbags to fully deploy in a very short time-frame. Just a few years back there were only 2 bags...driver’s wheel, and front passenger. But now there are up to 8. Driver’s steering wheel, front passenger dash, 2 under dash, 2 on out-board front seat backs, and 2 side curtains. That is a lot of air to vacate in just milliseconds. With the windows up, and the rear vents blocked could cause a number of problems. You may certainly blow out your windows, as well as your eardrums. Worst situation would arise if the bags could not open almost instantaneously and deploy fully as designed. Which might mean much more severe injuries for the folks inside. If there are any Insurance folks on here, please feel free to jump in and share your thoughts on what legal issues may arise if the vehicle owner “modified” these vents. Remember that Toyota spent a lot of money on Engineering and Manufacturing to put these in.

Guys I am just saying take a moment and think about the implications.

I've been on here about a month after I bought my first Taco. I wanted to add the black letters to the tailgate TACOMA emboss. did that, then noticed the chrome V6 didnt look right so blacked that out, of course then I had to do the side badges. Now Im looking at black wheels. I got this "mod" bug without even knowing it. Where does it stop??...

Installed my towing set up, and I plan to install new LED lights inside.
I’ve been waffling and struggling with tool box options. I live and work in downtown Atlanta. It’s been exhausting clearing the tools out of my tab when company is in my truck and quickly throwing everything back in to grab a beer or something.
But a full tool box was more than I needed and would be a pain to remove every time I put my topper on or roll my cart in.
So I bought this tool box ($150) from Northern Tool. I’m gonna paint it and add weather striping
Then the plan is to padlock it to the bed near the cab. All I gotta do is unlock it and throw it in the cab!
It will just hold my jumper cables, road flares, jack, tire iron, and my emergency tools for my truck. I’ll post the finished project in a few days.
