Ok electrians... the plan is to install new light fixtures on each side of the garage. Need a sanity check on the process.

First, figure out how to cut the .5in cedar board to fit in with the diagonal siding. Should I just cut in a rectangle shape, or match the bevels so it lines up, top and bottom, across two full courses?

Then, I have to deal with a wall stud right where the jbox needs to go. The plan so far is to cut the siding and expose the sheathing, then mount a .5in pancake box directly to the stud, on top of the sheathing, drill a hole off the side of the stud to pass the romex. Does that track?

I'll pull power from a flood light higher up the outside wall, drop down through the attic/ceiling, hit a jbox, then run conduit to either side of the garage, terminating at another jbox, before heading through the outside wall to the light fixtures.

My wife thinks she only needs a drawer, but hers are large enough for an entire room for storage.

    But what if it wasnt?

Dump was closed today so I cut up all the old framing I took out and disposed of it via fire. Also gathered all the limbs/sticks that have collected in the yard this winter and burned them up too in hopes of mowing next weekend.

Gotta put some more mortar on a few of the firepit bricks too.

Drywall guy starts on the laundry closet this monday. Cant wait to get that project in the books.

I prefer joint compound instead of that pink spackle for patching. It dries quicker and sets harder.

Yesterday I picked up a Fuerte Avocado tree and another planter barrel. Supposedly avocados from Mexico are banned from import for the time being. Google says these are supposed to get as big 45ft tall, but we'll see about that.

Also got a Bosch angle grinder and a 4 1/2 Avanti masonry cutting blade from Home Depot. I need to cut a couple of my yard divider pavers out front and buying an angle grinder was about $20 more than renting one. :notsure: House tint goes on Monday morning.

It seems a shame to cut such beautiful wood siding. I'd go with the top choice and match the bevels with furring and stain to match. I think just cutting a rectangle could end up not looking so good.

Where the wire enters the j-box isn't critical, but code is going to want some sort of strain relief/anti chaffing device. Space is going to be tight so something like this

So it is! Figures as much. I mean what would they do with the 80% of their crop if the United States wouldn't buy it?
Kind of makes you wonder how much they payed off the USDA for that. o_O

Luckily, the PO left a can of the stain they used last time the house was done. Wished they used something lighter. I used it on a couple cedar boards used as block mounts for lights next to the front entry. Cutting the siding was nerve wrecking to say the least, but it came out good. Cutting it short so I could sneak up on a tight fit.

    Crappy night pic.
