I don’t know too much about recovery but I recently moved to somewhere where I have had to help recover some cars out of snowy ditches.

I was going to buy an ARB recovery strap and some shackles but is there a front recovery point on the sport? I know the OR and Pro do but haven’t found any info on the sport and it’s too cold to go crawling around right now

There are no recovery points on the front our trucks.
This includes the OR and Pro.

If you want to change that, look at the ARB below.

I would disagree to some extent. The front loop on the drivers side is welded to the frame on the rad support extension. It is good enough for light recoveries. I wouldn't use it in deep mud or similar.

I have been yanked out of a pretty deep, snowy ditch by that loop and it held fine.

I hear you, but in reality, it's a tie down point that could be used for light recovery.
The Pro and OR come with the Tow Hook, as per the manual, for use on level ground.

That is one dinky crossmember down there.
I just wouldn't want someone yanking MY truck out by it. JM 2C.

I installed a Off-road hook on my sport, used several times for mild recovery, no problems.15104C83-24F5-4F84-838B-2C8796DAE96D.jpg

Agreed. I suppose that it should be said that all recoveries should use common sense.

It would work all day for mild recoveries.
Just don't want the guy pulling on it to get too excited.

On my 2021 OffRoad I have a big ol hook bolted to the frame on right front. I would not hook a chain on it but a winch or kinetic rope would be fine.

    Yes, same here.

Was stuck in snow for about 6 hours, that hook worked perfectly fine.

I just got my trd skid delivered today and also have the trd hook to install after I paint it fire engine red…I plan on painting the loop on the drivers side red also on my sport. I like this set up on your and gives me a good idea of what it’ll look like installed/ painted

Not the best or easiest method.

How about looping and hooking a chain around the lowest crossmember of the frame where the lower control arms attach?[IMG]

That has to be one of the strongest parts of the frame.

Or the crossmember to the rear of that one? There is room to get a chain or strap around that one.

I'm joking, but I don't see how that would cause damage to the truck. Maybe a chain link could bend the metal if you pulled wih a lot of force.

Pretty sure all vehicles have a front recovery point for towing.

Install something. This is a curt front receiver that I welded two extra receivers in. The OEM has the paw in it. I use this setup with a removable winch (so I can attach in the rear too) and the sides are for rigging diagonally.

The OR hook and a 20,000 winch worked for me on this recovery

Oh man it was hell going back, pics don’t do justice. 3 foot ruts filled with water. Still driving around with a short in my right rear abs wire, waiting for a new harness…

Was awesome going to our spot though:D

It's a c-chanmel frame at that point, which seems like it'd only really have strength on the Y axis. Since it's not boxed in, a chain could easily bend the upper or lower plates inward which would (maybe?) compromise the whole thing.

I'm not in any way an engineer or mechanic though, so I'm talking right out my ass.

Yeah I have no idea what would happen when pulling with a chain wrapped around the cross member. I would think if the chain was wrapped tightly around the force would be equal all the way around.

Using two chains in that fashion would probably be better than one, or using a soft shackle or two would probably be best.

Again, I wouldn't want to have to do this. But, what would you do if the actual recovery points got sheared off on a rock or something?
