For the rear, get a shackle with a ring for the hitch receiver.

    Check build thread!
Absolutely this. Can’t answer for the front (I personally plan on getting an front bumper with tow hooks) but I have a shackle with a ring rated to 12k lbs and have towed many cars out of ditches with it. 10/10 would recommend.

I installed Demon Brackets (with shackles) on mine, but I have no illusions that I can use them for recovery. They just look cool, like the hood scoop.

    Guys, just stop.
Our trucks weigh 5500 lb. Shear on a 3/8 grade 5 bolt is 7000 lbs.

When you pull, you are pulling a fraction of the 5500 lb. Even if your truck is really stuck, it's still less than 5500 lb force on the cable or rope.

If you were winching your truck up a vertical face, a 3/8 grade 5 bolt would hold.

We are not pulling 50K loads. At most a 2K pull will free a stuck truck unless frozen to the ground.

A kinetic rope like a Yankum 7/8 will break at 26K. I have watched Matt recover 3/4 ton trucks with a 5th wheel trailer on back with no issues.
The.loads are simply not that great to need more than you have.

Now, if you hook a 30 foot chain to the hook and get a running.start, yeah, you will break something.

You could pull a 1/2 ton in neutral with a golf cart on flat groud, if it's not really stuck with out much resistance against the wheels.
