I had a 1987 Mazda B2000 on hydro's. The door handles, cowl, and gas cap door where shaved. I relocated the filler neck and cap inside the bed and never had an issue with it. Now, this was almost 15 years ago, so things may have changed. You can't see it in the photo but the gas cap was mounted in the left corner of the bed, by the cab.

No but you will need to retain stock gas cap and all stock filler neck. See how mine is inside the bed now. It’s plumed exactly like stock I’m not breaking any laws it’s all there…. 6FE3645D-D6EB-41A0-8368-F195809AC1C1.jpg

Just FYI, I put a mid 90s F150 rear gas tank behind the rear axle in my 2001 Tacoma in prep for a 4 link (never did it, sold the truck), adapted all of the Tacoma guts to fit in it and was able to pass smog with it. The F150 tank didn't have any more capacity from stock but I think there is a 25 gallon from a Bronco that would also fit behind the rear axle too.

    I've read so.e post of people doing so on a 3rd gen 4runner .
What did it take to adapt the tacom parts to the f150 tank?

Lots of custom work. Cut the fuel pump bracket down in height, make the float level arm shorter, and cut out all the original flanges/bucket from the Toyota tank and weld them to the Ford tank. Probably easier to use the Ford pump unit and deal with the gas gauge reading backwards lol

Did it still attach to the stock fill location?
Thanks for sharing your experience. @thegame .

Sorry for the late reply. I haven't been on here much lately. I did contact Solo... about 2 years ago. Talked to Bobby to have a tank made for me. He said he "could and will". I've been calling him every now and then on the status and he keeps jerking me around. First blaming the delays on Covid, then blaming the two shops he works with and now he says "let me check and I'll call you back", which he never does. At this point, I just call him to check the status, just for shits and giggles. He never took my money but 2 years of waiting is hilarious right now. I'm not in a hurry, I still need to save money for the back half and figuring out how to keep this think SMOG legal as possible. Worst case, I pan-hard it and keep the stock tank.

Solos kind of gotten out of custom stuff over the past years. They’ve stopped doing builds which used to be a huge part of their business and stuck to off the shelf parts. I’d ask Michael Cox as he’s knowledgeable in a lot of areas between Broncos (he does a lot of installs for Solo) and Toyotas as well as testing / rebuilding injectors etc.

Yeah, Bobby told me he was heading towards that direction. I'll hit up Mike but I might hit up Tommy from TT Motorsports too.
