Not enough bandwidth on the internet to list.
Police works better. Got a fake letterhead?

Personally, I wouldn't have given in so early on the holes. You won't get that back since you just negotiated that right out the window.

There's no way in hell they'll "take back" the truck. It's yours. The financial papers are done, the DMV papers are done. That's a massive step to implement.

This same system was in my truck when I bought it new. Never had issues with it, but I removed it myself. They used multiple T taps and had cut one of the the ignition wires and spliced it back together. I removed everything and soldered the ignition wire back together with heat shrink tubing over it. I'm sure there was at least some parasitic draw from the unit.

Once the MCO is traded for a title and the vehicle is registered it's no longer "new" and cannot be sold as such. You can't just return it.

I've only seen these add-on security units at dealers that do a lot of sub-prime business. They use them to be able to locate vehicles and disable ignitions to make repos easier.

Some places do this. They might be able to disable it if you miss payments, but I think it's more of a GPS tracker so they can repo it instantly - and if they do, you will never be able to afford their fees to get it back. Gotta read that fine print. The places that do this make more money off bad credit loans that never gain positive equity due to their outrageous payments and interest. If you signed that paperwork, that's on you. Take what you can from it, make your payments on time and get the hell out as soon as possible. If I were you, I'd give it 6 months before I started looking to refinance somewhere else or just get rid of it entirely. Lesson learned... no hard feelings here, just gotta be careful.

I would ask them to remove it from the truck and make any needed repairs from damage the installation may have caused. To protect you from future dealership hypocrisy, I would also ask that they provide a letter outlining what they installed and what wiring was altered in the installation process to protect you from future denials of repair should something arise. Be nice but make a case that you have to protect yourself and your $40k investment.

That's definitely not supposed to be there. Ide be pist, and they screwed it in too what a bunch of derps. Common curtesy is so rare these days people just have such a "ehh fuck 'em" attitude.

I got my loan through USAA, so the dealer's been paid in full. I doubt the purpose is to repo vehicles; I believe what they said about being hit by a bunch of thefts recently. I'll admit I didn't read the fine print (wasn't really given an opportunity to), but seeing as how they literally just started adding these to their vehicles this week, I doubt they had time to modify their boilerplate agreements. I also have an email exchange about any dealer added items, and the security system wasn't mentioned.

ok I'll buy the theft thing, but damn, don't screw something into someone's brand new dashboard. Do something under the dash that's hidden and doesn't require damage to the dash or electrical wires. That just sucks.

For real. That's pretty messed up. I've seen places do the whole GPS thing but this way is pretty messed up. And they need to remove this stuff if it is just for "on the lot" purposes. Although, it's very clear that Toyota has enough tracking devices already, so I'm still skeptical.

I've never understand why the vehicle manufacturers don't put a stop to this, by "this" I'm referring to the Karr alarms or similar.

Just think of the number of repairs the manufacturer is paying for because of dealerships greed.
