I don't mind not having one. I have gotten used to it not being there. I can usually hear the truck lock while I am leaving it.

Could a chirp alarm be hooked up to a door lock? Seems the best place to install one. That way it would only sound when locking and unlocking.

That's one thing my 4Runner does that I wish my Tacoma did from the factory. So I have an aftermarket Code Alarm installed in my truck. When I hit the lock button a 2nd time it honks my horn 2 times at me to let me know it's locked.:) The only thing I don't like (but can live with) is that when you unlock it, it unlocks all the doors no matter what.

I can hear the locks operate or see the parking lights flash most of the time. Every now and then I'll be all OCD and walk back to check. But I don't want the chirp, I hate when other people chirp theirs and if I had a chirp I couldn't complain about them anymore.

If I am sitting in my truck and hear someone chirp their locks, I honk my horn at them just to piss them off.:D

NOISE POLLUTION? Never heard of that....Although I was raised 3 miles from NYC. Could not hear an air horn in that environment. Here a cricket chirp would be heard and hardly considered "noise pollution" Sounds like a California originated term...Thats a new one.

LOL I agree I hated them until the one on the Honda. One click no sound....the second click is the "Hmmm did the door's lock?" chirp.

LOL I am the farthest from OCD one can get when it comes to cars and bikes. I may wax once a year and let rain wash them or run them through a car wash... I am used to the second click chirp though. I especially lied it when I left the car out of the garage and would click the lock inside the house and hear it chirp before retiring for the night..

You want OCD ? My brother made his kids take their shoes off before they got in his cars...There was a line around the block of buyers for his lightly used obsessed upon new cars. LOL Me I don't watch where I park at the mall. he will walk miles to park away from another car. I think he threw up when I told him I would run my new black Honda Accord through a car wash and let the guys with the towels dry it...LOL

My sig are HIS words!! That is OCD...

The only chirp/beep would be one that goes off only if a door is left ajar when you try to lock the doors. This really isnt a problem when its only me, but i get paranoid when friends are with me, i have to make sure i see the lights flash otherwise they left a door partially open.

As far as for regular locking/unlocking i could care less.

Am I missing something? My '10 beeps when I lock the doors and flashes the lights. Do '05s & '06s not?

Mine doesn't... I am sure glad. My wife's Subaru does and it is so annoying. by the time we open the trunk and the doors, it beeps 7 times... 7! way overkill IMO.

My 09 chirps too. It has the factory alarm installed- I thought this might be a feature of the alarm.

05 thru 08 does not beep or chirp when the doors are locked. That feature was added in 09.

I added a Piezzo buzzer to my 08 2 years ago. There is a DYI thread about how to add it. The buzzer costs about $12 at Radio Shack.

I'm glad mine chirps on lock but I hate the unlock. To unlock all the doors you have to hit unlock twice and it beeps 4 times...but you can't push them too fast or it won't register the second push...and you can't wait too long for the second push or it won't unlock everything. Half a second delay is too short, but a 2 second delay is too long. It's finicky.
