I must have skipped over this one until @Benny blanco replied. While I do think that the opening of the airbags in a crash could be slowed down by the pressure buildup inside the cabin with the vents blocked, I don't think the effect would be enough to flip the results of a crash from Life to Death. Part of the reason the airbags inflate so quickly is because they are not inflated with compressed gas which would already be several times the pressure of ambient air, they are filled by a controlled detonation of sodium azide, NaN3, laced with a couple compounds to convert the corrosive byproducts into inert compounds. This detonation is so fast and has so much pressure that the net effect on inflation speed would be negligible. That said, the overpressure could certainly blow out a window or two and rupture an eardrum or three. Still, the glass would be leaving the vehicle and a ruptured eardrum probably wouldn't kill anyone.

Keep an eye on that tire if it's that old. I had a spare boat trailer tire mounted on the side of the trailer that I kept parked in my garage and it exploded from dry rot because of age. It never hit the pavement. Thank God I wasn't near it when it exploded.

So mines sitting at 48k right now. It’s my work truck so to speak. Hauls my fishing boat several hundred miles a week on guide trips! If it weren’t for that it wouldn’t have many at all! We’re in the process of buying a house and decided to just go ahead and send the last payment in so it was over and done for.

    <rant on>:annoyed:
I don’t know about you but here in upstate NY (near the vt/mass/ny border) it’s been cold ….really cold ………..and though I want to do ‘stuff’ to my truck my little one car garage has to much crap in it (3 motorcycles) even if my Tacoma would fit in…..

so outside it stays where I can’t (comfortably) do anything to it…..

So here’s my list of mods that are in boxes…

Draw rite Trailer hitch, AVS inn channel window visors, rough country seat covers, OEM tacoma bed mat, motorcycle carrier, (ceramic coating CarPro CQUARTZ UK 3.0) and a REAL cleaning, stripping, buffing, polishing, tire dressing etc… there”s probably others I Am not thinking of too….

to be fair MOST of these were deals ($45 for a trailer hitch, 70 for a bed mat) and I have a SR so it needs mods (clearly) but enough Mother Nature give me a fn break pleeeeez! :annoyed: <Rant off>

If you know how to open boxes quickly, you could have that bed mat installed in a couple minutes.

    All braindead easy stuff today.

Installed AluCab Load bars on the SmartCap. I'll be adding details to my build thread this weekend on what hardware is necessary to make the bars compatible.

    Hint: it's an M8-1.25x16 bolt...

Also added some temporary red shackles until I can get some powder coated hot pink -- because apparently all anyone sells is false promises that turn out to be baby pink on arrival :pout:

I feel you. Deavers, Hammer Hangers, and U-bolt flip are awaiting a not rainy weekend in Seattle. It will happen eventually.
