Toyota's coolant doesn't seem to have as much issues with particulates as some other manufacturers but on many you have to pull the hoses and backflush the heater cores to clear all the crap out of them.

2nd gens don't have a heater control valve so coolant is always flowing through the heater core whether the heater is on or not.

Vehicle cooling systems usually don't take the total listed capacity except on a freshly rebuilt engine as there's always some that stays trapped in the coolant passages even with the drains all being opened, also total listed capacity generally includes the overflow bottle.
If your using the spillproof funnel park the vehicle on a slight incline with the front of the truck slightly elevated do the initial fill, leave the funnel installed, start the truck and let it idle until the thermostat opens (upper hose and air across the radiator get hot) while keeping coolant in the funnel and keeping an eye on the temperature as to not overheat it.
Once it's up to temp stick the plug in the funnel and remove it, put the rad cap on, drive the truck a bit, allow it to cool, once it's cooled check the level and top off as needed.

oh ok so don't worry about not taking more than about 5.5 quarts huh.I am using the spillproof funnel and had it jacked up a bit today and will again tomorrow and then like you said drive it once it wont take any more.So no need to turn on the heater huh.like i told david the second flush is a light pink but no need to flush with water anymore huh just 50/50 it?

Your math is off here - 1 gallon of 50/50 and 1 gallon of distilled water equals 2 gallons of a 25/75 mixture, not 50/50. If the current mixture in the system is already at 50/50, then anything he adds should already be a 50/50 mix in order to maintain 50/50.

As long as your thermostat opens you should be fine, my 14 4.0L calls for 10.1 Quarts and it took exactly 2 gallons (8 quarts) when I did a drain and fill (and yes I opened both block drains).
Yea you should be fine, I always use full strength coolant and add half the listed capacity in coolant and the rest distilled water.

Please look at your Haynes to see how it circulates through the block and radiator. You're fine.
Why did you have it jacked up? First page, let it sit on a flat surface. You already have heat in the cabin so the T-stat is operating normal. No more flushing, just fill with 50/50 as needed.

right on,yeah i think the haynes toyota book contradicts itself.I read where it says to have the fluid in between the low and full line and another page where it said on a cold engine fill to just above the low mark ,weird.

ahh,so not obsessive prick? lol I only jacked it up on the second flush to see if that would help anything and i'll just fill with 50/50 tomorrow and drive it a bit and check it and add if needed, thanks!

Keep that undiluted 50/50 for the res/overflow and no, it's not viscous enough to cause any problems if the mix isn't exact. Less water, more mix is optimal with the caveat where you live and driving type.

Yeah I think back in the day there might have been Hot and Cold marks on some reservoir tanks, could be they have more volume above the top line now (Full or Max) so you fill to the top line. I’m going off “back in the day” memory which could be wrong lol.

Being obsessive when you first get under the hood is a good thing. It means you are lazy - lazy people work harder to get it right the first time so they don't have to go back and do it all over again.

i got concentrated not the diluted mix so i'll add a bit of it to the reservoir. So where would those other two qts. be sitting if i drained the engine block?Still in block or the system somewhere?

I wouldn't say they are necessarily lazy but it's definitely much better than the people that try to DIY, screw it up , and then ask how to do it right and/or how to fix what they screwed up.
