Ok so yeah just have anything built above that be removable but most guys keep the main structure wider than the fuel cell so it lifts out vertically or put anything above it on tube clamps like shown. You could also build a bolt on structure above it using delrin bushings and / or solid mounts if you’re still getting used to welding as tube clamps won’t like deflection in your setup.

I measured the new location for the coilovers and I’ll have enough room to squeeze the cell out vertically if I ever had to. I’ve got all weekend to work on the truck so I’m hoping to have it on the ground rolling Sunday. Will still be a lot of random little crap left to do, but I want to drive it on my trails here at the house.

Okay how come no one makes a one piece 3rd gen front end? They not trying to help 3rd gen owners try to be as baller as the rest?

Pulled the bed finally and got all my mounts welded and ready. Picked up all my metal this morning.

Welp moved the upper mounts in and found that at full tilt the shock shaft at droop had some nasty deflection. Moved the lowers in twice and still have some deflection. Maybe 3/16” over the 15.5” shaft. Will likely have to clock the upper or lower mounts 90 degrees.

I’m measuring 20” at the hub full tilt. Will probably strap it at 18” where there’s no deflection and come back to it another day. I wish the shock misalignments had just a hair more wiggle room…

lol - unless I'm mistaken the 2.5 gen Tundra refresh came at the same year as the 3rd gen Tacoma

Either way I'm sure a 3rd gen Tundra conversion is only a short ways away

As long as it’s not a 1st gen…who makes that one though? Or is it custom? Also not sure if I like it or not though…

Yeah 1 pieces typically are made for trucks that have been out awhile and are reaching the point where people are putting big suspension and racing on them. I believe that truck has a Quixotic front kit. FWIW most guys will build a front hinged sub frame for one pieces so the only thing that is really mounted to the "body" is the small mini-fender portion near the door or nothing and the whole thing rotates forwards.

yeah i was thinking of cutting the tops of my fender wells out since ive already replated everything and have a removable core support as is. not sure i would even bother hinging it....might just add 2 more hood pins in the back and just throw some grab handles on top to remove...lol

From pretty much everyone on here and elsewhere that I've heard talk about 4 hood pin hoods, they hate it and wish they had hinges still. For that reason I kept my hinges.

yeah i mean it is a pain just simply wanting the pop the hood to check underneath real quick..... wonder if i could come up with a simple hinge thats not really a hinge design that it can just rest in for quick checks.... wonder what the guys who do hinge them forward run for hinges....

Basically just a bolt through a piece of tube with holes drilled in the plated ends. I'd try to reuse the factory hinges if they're bolt-on on 3rd gens like they are on 1st gens (and I assume 2nd gens).
