Favorite Whiskey?

Virginia gets a decent amount of blantons. Don’t know where you are located but I travel full time between NC, VA, WV, KY, TN, IN, IL and MO. We could probably work out a trade

 

How do you like the Spots? One of these days I'm going to pull the trigger on one of those (green, yellow, blue... who knows). I like Redbreast Irish, wonder how these compare?

 

Not sure, I think some people were in line as early as midnight, but I was at laburnum.

 

If I can score another one this week I may be able to trade if you have anything you would part with.

 

what would you say the Stagg is like as a taste profile? Anything that is similar?

I have like zero experience with Irish, just the normal Telly and Jamo as a youngster, always did like Irish tho. With the frustrations of the bourbon boom I’ve been branching out into Japanese and Irish

picked up red breast cask strength and blue spot in last week or so, have not cracked them. Will report back when I do

I gave up chasing bourbon some time ago and now it's Japanese and Scotch. With Scotch, good bottles are easy to find at reasonable prices. Japanese... went the way of bourbon and got very popular. Good bottles are harder to find and prices went crazy. Still, they can be had if you keep your eyes open.

Try Oban 14 for Scotch. Anything from Nikka or Yamazaki is good (haven't tried Nikka Days yet though). Japanese have loose regulations and something labeled as a Japanese whisky may be from another country. Nikka and Yamazaki are 100% Japanese.

 

I'm in Northwest IN, let me know what you have in mind, I have an upopened Weller SR, EC Toasted Barrel or im happy to purchase off ya!

 

Yamazaki is great, hard to find though

 

Finished off a bottle of Oban Little Bay last night and just picked up this 15yr Glenmorangie from TW Concierge program. This may be next!

How do you like it? My wife picked out that bottle for me because of the horse lol. I thought it was a pretty good rye, makes an awesome old fashioned

 

It’s decent, good classic rye but a little young

I can see it making excellent old fashions, 97 proof is a nice touch
