About 11 minutes to install (including torquing to spec & witness marking). Erik thank you for making these killer little guards and thank you for providing the easiest instructions ever. It’s already easy and you made it easier.

Installed mine as well. Not sure why the weld bead orientation matters but whatever :) Surprising how much dirt is trapped in the sensor connector!

Cool. The reason for the weld bead towards the center of truck is so the weld doesn't hit the hub flange, making sure skids sit flat

Sensor skids in stock, and should ship within a few days of order except that we will be shutdown between March 3rd and March 15 (Orders will not ship during that period)

It is, . . . . but it's not so great for the bank account :spending:

Yeah, if you can do a front ABS sensor design that is as simple & robust as this, for a similar price point, you'll probably sell a lot.

SDHQ makes front/rear ABS sensor guards, but their front ones are not designed well. They use a single mounting bolt that can be sheared off pretty easily in a hard direct hit.

JOMAX Customs makes an awesome CNC-machined front ABS sensor that looks bombproof, but they're only sold as part of a set of 4 for $225 (US) -- and, they've been out of stock for over a year now.

(Probably the front are a lot more challenging to do well than the rear because the huge rear axle has tons of mounting area, no close clearances with IFS or wheel turning radius, etc.)

Added to my list to design a solution for the front

I'm sure you'll notice this already, but basically you have 2 main designs in the field at this point:

    - the SDHQ design (and similar ones) that just bolt on with a single bolt, with the guard sticking out sideways from it like a flag on flag pole. A lot better than nothing, but still vulnerable to the mounting bolt being sheared in a heavy impact to the inside edge of the guard.

    - the JOMAX design (the particulars of which are, apparently, either patented or patent-pending) which uses multiple bolts & machining in such a way that the entire front surface of the guard transfers any impact load more or less evenly and directly to the steering knuckle itself, making it extremely unlikely for the ABS guard itself to break away.

Might be a challenge to design something that's as strong as the JOMAX design, but even if it's not quite that buff, IMO it needs to be better than the SDHQ version.

    ---

Meanwhile I'm going to pick up a pair of the Archive Garage rear ABS guards because they're super-simple and, just by the look of them, more than strong enough. 2 bolts in direct shear with basically no leverage on them. Simple and effective.
