Ft. Eustis is the Army Transportation base. Even as a soldier from AZ and TX I had to go there for my senior NCO course. It’s near Newport-News.

Seeing these bad boys in action more than once. One of the most amazing aircraft of all time. Don’t let the fighter jocks convince you otherwise.

Is it open to the public or military only? This doesn't really matter since my dad get me in regardless; Just curious...

As I recall it’s inside the wire so yeah you have to go through the guard shack first.

Yes for sure. Plenty of aircraft there but my favorite were the static displays of Ww2 Red ball express and Vietnam war gun trucks…

It would not be a Toyota dealer in Pennsylvania without at least one rotted Tacoma frame out back!

Are you getting settlement from the junkyard monkey or have to eat the repair costs?

I got impatient waiting for the jokers at the scrapyard's insurance company and contacted my own insurance company (USAa); My insurance is giving me a check, minus the deductible, so I can get my truck repaired in this lifetime...

USAA is going after the scrapyard's insurance company, and will refund me the deductible. It's been 12 hours short of a week since this happened, and it took like a month and a half before my truck got into the shop when a texting driver rear-ended me in March 2015; That was some incredibly minor damage that did not affect smooth operation of the truck. This is different; I can't use my passenger door or even roll the window down all the way, plus I think the wiring for the speakers was tweaked. It is too early to tell if they are trying to duck me, but this wasn't my fault and I don't have the patience for this bullshit, so hopefully my insurance company will give them the swift kick in the ass they need to expedite things!

Oh, and it goes without saying that I'm never going to recycle scrap metal for extra spending money ever again. I've made a few hundred bucks there in the last year or so, and they managed to do four grand in damage to my truck in a matter of seconds, so fuck 'em!

yeah the scrapyards operate on their own protocol. I only ever entered one once and got a flat on my trailer from a screw on the path there. Hardly worth the trip by the time I paid gas price and had to patch the tire. Scrap prices might be up but it’s really only worth your time if you’re doing it on a commercial level. They are run by the mob so I’d not be surprised if you never saw that money but good on you for getting your insurance company involved. Hopefully they pay up but I would not hope my breath those guys are mostly straight up crooks

This place doesn't have a mob vibe; If I don't get my deductible back, I'm nuking them on Yelp and I'm never going back...

those are the exact places you don’t want to blow up. You’ll end up with feet filled with concrete. I’d leave it be.

I didn't mean literally blow up; Pretty sure the use of explosives for this type of thing is a felony...?
