Anyone recall that hot rod comic book that used to be published? I had a bunch of them but can`t remember the name. Just remembered, Car Toons.

 

I am the poster child for this..fortunately I cleaned up my act right before those came to be

Remember when we used to take our rear engine Chevy Corvair off-roading?
Me either but there was an ad for that lol.
We had a 60 or 61 Corvair when I was a kid, family drove it on a long trip on snowy roads to Black Mountain NC and it did quite well. There were issues with the air cooled engine overheating on occasion as I remember.

My best bud had a Corvair years ago. We'd go everywhere in that thing. Went on a dirt road late at night, managed to get stuck in a mud puddle. Took us a couple hours to get out, and by then we were so tired my bud forgot to dim the headlights for an oncoming car, which turned out to be a cop car. He stopped us, but after our explanation (and all the mud on the car) he gave us a break and no ticket.

 

First car I ever drove, before I even had a license lol. Brother was 16 and licensed so we would sneak out of the house when the parents were in bed, roll it down the street and crank it up and cruise Franklin Boulevard in Gastonia. Soon learned the chicks didn’t dig Corvairs so we went to work and graduated to a Chevy Chevelle SS 396.

 

Anybody remember the woodpecker toy that climbed down walls? I used to see it on late night TV during the 60's, might have been a commercial?

 

It had suction cups for feet?

Thats awesome. Yeah, I remember the old man taking the Corvair to Moab a couple times.
