Yet we were all still terrified that our parents would find out somehow, and beat the crap out of us for doing it.

Anyone recall that hot rod comic book that used to be published? I had a bunch of them but can`t remember the name. Just remembered, Car Toons.

True, but it had deeper implications than just a picture let's say

Remember when American cars got “radial tuned suspension”?

B&S lawnmowers went from the pull-rope, to some folding crank and clockspring arrangement and then they went back to the pull-rope again.

BEAR Alignment machines with the happy little teddy bear waving at you…

Marksman BB guns that only held one BB at a time & could barely shoot through a thick cardboard box.

Remember when we used to take our rear engine Chevy Corvair off-roading?
Me either but there was an ad for that lol.
We had a 60 or 61 Corvair when I was a kid, family drove it on a long trip on snowy roads to Black Mountain NC and it did quite well. There were issues with the air cooled engine overheating on occasion as I remember.
Start watching around 2:20 for the off-roading and not just a water crossing but driving right down the stream!

Remember when Nazis were collectively hated?
    That was cool.

Remember when there weren't 5+ ways to contact someone?
    That was cool.

Remember when an ugly girl with a big butt was a butterface, not a millionaire on an internet platform?
    That was cool.

My best bud had a Corvair years ago. We'd go everywhere in that thing. Went on a dirt road late at night, managed to get stuck in a mud puddle. Took us a couple hours to get out, and by then we were so tired my bud forgot to dim the headlights for an oncoming car, which turned out to be a cop car. He stopped us, but after our explanation (and all the mud on the car) he gave us a break and no ticket.

First car I ever drove, before I even had a license lol. Brother was 16 and licensed so we would sneak out of the house when the parents were in bed, roll it down the street and crank it up and cruise Franklin Boulevard in Gastonia. Soon learned the chicks didn’t dig Corvairs so we went to work and graduated to a Chevy Chevelle SS 396.

Anybody remember the woodpecker toy that climbed down walls? I used to see it on late night TV during the 60's, might have been a commercial?

It had suction cups for feet?

Remember the little magnetic Smokey Bear butt snuffers?

    We had a Wheel-o

    A Duncan Twin-Spin

An original "Pluto Platter" frizbee with the names of the nine planets on it.

    And a Willy Wiggle

    And a Dam-dam doll

A celuloid ornithropter with a double rubber band

Making toy cars that ran off rubber bands wrapped around the axle.
