These floating shelves they have at Lowes are great. Put up two in the closet and one in the bathroom.




But this stupid corner shelf… it kicked my ass until I ignored the shitty instructions and just put it up on the wall.

 

Started work on closing the carport in...

For support reasons, I left the post up, but cut off the vinyl outer shell.



The string you see is my plumbob hanging to figure out the overhang compared to the concrete to get my "wall" strait.

While expensive, the 2x4x10's I bought weren't the straightest. Quick idea to grab a c-clamp and get them even before screwing it all together...



So, this small section is up. I have to grab some more treated 2x4's to encase the aluminum pole.





Somehow my measurements were accurate and the wall is somehow strait and level! Been a while since I've done any "real" carpentry, but apparently still got measuring down pat The sill is attached with 3/8" x 5" wedge anchors, shit's not going anywhere. Garage door guy is coming out tomorrow morning for a final measurement and get a deposit. A 6' 9" tall X 9' wide 2" thick insulated with glass is running me a cool $1,800...

 

I believe I have the same shelves in my bathroom, still holding up well 4 years later

Master Closet done...


Paints drying all cleaned up ready for a week of install....

 

Ok ladies and gents.
Bathroom remodel. Previously I had a linen closet at the end of my tub/shower where valve access was located. Eliminated the closet to make walk-in shower larger and now valve access is from the hallway as seen here:


Do you guys have any ideas how to hide/blend in the access panel?

 

First thought that comes to my mind is some sort of wainscoting with a panel cut out for the valve thats held in with magnets.

Or a very large presidential looking commissioned painting of yourself that covers the entire wall floor to ceiling.

 

I have a vent panel (louvers only, no directional flaps) covering an access hole by my bathtub. It's in the water closet room, so no one every really sees it.

Not the prettiest idea, but inexpensive and simple.

 

why a glass door? Just get a cloplay door and DIY, the panels are easy enough to assemble.

Heh, shoulda specified. Windows in the 3rd panel. This door will have a torsion style springs and I'm not touching them, I'll have them install it all incase there's any problems down the road.

 

gotcha. I never get why people are afraid of those springs yet they’ll fuck with a coil over or macpherson strut LOL. I got a few estimates for doors on my house and once I got the results I self installed and haven’t died yet I’d recommend getting a jackshaft opener to save you the space from the beginning, rough in the outlet now while you’re messing with the framing portion.

 

I havent done one myself, but after seeing it done those springs look pretty easy to do. Its only when you fuck up that it hurts.

As it is with most things I guess.

 

It's only a charge of $225 to install the whole door and spring. Honestly even though I'm on a budget, that's $225 well spent not being aggravated installing that heavy bastard...

Since there was already some rustic themes going on in other places in our place the wife wanted something "cleaner".
This was a fun one for me since I have never done herringbone before and was pretty impressed that I was able to get it all from one sheet.


I made it so if any of the boards get super pock marked I can pop it out and replace it quite easily.

 

i replaced my torsion spring myself when my old one snapped. Really not bad, and I was figuring it out as I went. But, $225 isn’t bad for install.

 

Coat Closet done. Next is too install LED lighting with a motion sensor on the backside of the trim for some illumination as it is a little dark now.

 

Master closet coming along....

 

Got the framing done for the most part today!







Next is siding and a walk through door. Garage door was ordered today, estimated 14 weeks on delivery.
