Maybe 29 posts from now - lol. We’ll see if I can find a solution before then.

If you find a solution for the F5’s, what are your plans for the Ray10’s?

Really only a little noise but the brake pedal got real mushy over the last week. Prayed and even got new front pads but no,,, it was time for the rear.

Took a week to get all the stuff... Order ahead or you might be out of luck.

I hate doing drum brakes. One of the springs inevitability goes flying off somewhere. That and hunting in my toolbox for the weird spring tool I haven't needed in years.

I tore apart my front brakes yesterday. I pulled into a rest area earlier in the day and I smelled a burning brake smell. I didn't think it was me, but couldn't tell for sure. Got off the highway and I could hear one of my front brakes squeeking so then I got freaked out thinking it was me and I was dragging a brake. Pulled everything apart, nothing to report, cleaned and put back together and it's still squeeking so all that work for nothing (other than piece of mind, knowing I'm not dragging my brakes).

You got discs all around on that bad boy right?

I haven't taken my drums off but I need to do the fronts in the spring. I'm at 46k miles on them, they're due. I have rotors already, just need the pads. Waiting for it to be warm enough to not freeze my nads off when I do it, and have some daylight to work with too. I plan to at least pop the rears and clean them off a bit when I do that so that it isn't a rust bucket at 150k when I overhaul them.

Yep, disc brakes all around. 51k miles on them and they still look new. The brakes on that truck are only made for stopping heavy things, noises and dust are the operator's issue. Even the guys who tow heavy every day are getting well over 100k miles out of the OEM brake setup. It's nuts.

Damn. Nice. I know some people on the Tacomas get close to 75k on the fronts too. I haven't measured mine but after 2 years of wheeling and new england, it's worth the extra 40$ early to get in there anyway.

I think I got 50k miles out of fronts when I had my Tacoma. The rears on my Tacoma still looked great at 100k miles. I think I was similar on my F150, maybe a little more mileage out of the fronts but not much and I never touched the rears. The 250 components are just heavier and don't seem to be wearing in at all. This truck also has the exhaust brake though and that's a game changer when you're towing.

My brakes are super loud when I back out of the driveway in the morning, but are silent after that.

On my last one, the rears were getting pretty low when I traded it. I figure they would have made it to 60k. Fronts still looked great and would have had no problem going over 100k. The back pads are known to wear faster on the newer F-150s.

I bought some McGard lug nuts for mine - the Ford ones are starting to swell like last ones did (and my Tacoma did too). They're 22mm drive (originals are 21), so I ordered an OEM-like 22mm lug wrench to keep in the truck.

I had gotten Gorillas for the last truck, but those rusted quickly. Supposedly the McGards hold up. They had better for the price.

Brakes will happen. Cast iron rotors, overnight they'll build up a small layer of rust. First run on them will burn that off. If it's slow, then you get some squeak. After that, it's clean and no squeak!

Never heard about the lugs swelling on Tacomas. Interesting. Speaking of which, I have a set of OEM lugs I forgot I had. Need to pitch those. Gonna garage clean this spring I'll have to put up a ton of free shiz here haha

Love this brand - I have their marine grade ones for the roof rack gas tanks I keep up there for longer hauls. These things have sat through the salty winters and still survived. Can't say the same about the other brand "all weather" ones I have run...

40% of my oem lugs swelled up - I bought a used set to swap them in accordingly. Got to the point where I now loosen the lugs, jiggle the socket off while it's still grabbing threads and then reinsert to remove it the rest of the way. Same thing is starting to happen on my ford fusion lugs too....
