About to swap the m12 impact for the m18… HD deals are like crack lately. $99 for a M18 brushless (non-fuel) impact with battery 2.0ah, charger and soft case!

Craigslist sales have been pretty quick i my used tools getting 80% of retail. Makes this an easy choice!

Craigslist had a m12 tire inflator NIB for $30 today. I had to stop and think if I really needed another tire inflator. Or if I just wanted it because it’s Red.

Now if that was a 3/8 impact I might have to think about it LOL.

Folks did a little overlanding trip this weekend on the Canaan Loop trail in WV. This was my first use of the saw and I am beyond impressed as was the rest of the group. This thing opened roads and cut fire wood for two day with speed and efficiency. Love it.

Well I’m going through with this purchase. I was able to get the seller down to $300 CAD ($235 USD). I wanted the batteries and fuel ratchet mostly. The fuel cut off wheel will come in handy for my bathroom reno. The rotary tool will be good for trimming my dogs nails.

Is that the one with the magnetic bottom? That's an awesome light for a great price if it's the one in thinking of

I think so, killer for aiming. Will find out for sure soon enough.

Am curious if it can run off 12VDC. Not sure if DC would be sufficient or maybe it requires a higher frequency communication protocol to operate. I'm new to Milwaukee, and wonder if it is known how to speak redlink (maybe i2c or similar?) to trick the light or other tools to run from any source. I guess one option would be to get a knockoff m12 batt from ebay and try replacing the cells with a regulated voltage source but keep the (likely present) electronics in place. It surely has current/voltage monitors and i2c is a common protocol for those chips to speak over a bus. Any ideas with tapping into the power input are welcome, I will dig into it sometime.

    It most certainly is 12vDC.
What on earth are you talking about? Are you questioning if the magnet is an electro magnet? Or are you confused by the RedLink Intelligence?

Yeah I don't know if you can just feed that light 12V and have it work or I would expect you would have to give it a protocol too to tell it things are good enough to run without having a battery problem.

I just tried the power flow in reverse, and the batt is willing to drive a lightbulb just by adding the load. In this case I wonder if the battery has a built-in low voltage and over-current shutoff circuit, I assume it does but you know what happens when one assumes.

I figured the tools would not start if you just hook up 12V across the largest two spade connectors, but maybe they kept it simple. Will try when the light arrrives.

    Good ones:
I've been using the M12 Fuel Drill/Driver set for years and it's been super reliable. Same with the Jig saw.

    Bad ones:
Skip the M12 Fuel circular saw and the M12 rotary tool i.e. dremel. I'm on my second rotary tool and they both have a bad vibration issue at mid level settings, my first one just died one day. The Circular saw wasn't powerful enough for most jobs and chewed through battery very quickly, just go corded for circular saws.
