What is a easy way to siphon a tacoma gas tank? I know someone posted instructions on using the relay (shorting it or something) but no video or pictures ;(
In case you are wondering: My truck hardly gets used and it now has fuel that filled up ~a year ago. I did add fuel stabilizer and it was topped off. I do not plan on using it atleast until Nov of this year, so I need the old fuel removed and refreshed.

Basically you need to command the fuel pump on, with a scan tool or by passing the fuel pump relay.

Easiest way to by pass the fuel pump relay is remove it and jump the two large pins with a wire.

Next you need to disconnect the feed line to the engine, its near the oil fill cap, its 2 fuel hoses joined by a black plastic holder, you remove the forward one.

Stick a long hose from the hard line to a jerry can, by pass relay, turn key on.

No pictures, this isn't very common to do.

If you can find a place to disconnect the fuel line and hook a hose to it you can jump power to the Black/Red wire at the fuel pump resistor to run the pump.
It is located right in front of the battery.

I was wondering if there was a way to change the gas in your Tacoma.

It looks like the relay for taco has 5 leads like this. So, which of these should I connect via a wire?

Neither, do as @Dm93 said in the above post.
Jump it at the resistor wiring. It will be easier and you don’t risk messing up the terminals in the fuse box.

Isn't there a drain plug on the tank? Most vehicles have them.

Not unless you make one.
You have to jump the fuel pump, or remove the tank.
Jumping the pump wire seems a like a lot less work:thumbsup:

You are joking right? Yes to the radiator, engine, transmission but not the fuel tank.

No they don't, I've never seen a drain plug on an automotive fuel tank.
Some tractors and 18 wheelers do but not cars and trucks.

Just searching around, BMW, Mazda, Mitsubishi have fuel tank plugs on some models.

I've seen drain plugs on tanks 100%

    That said, tacoma does not.

I've yet to see one exept a few 60s and 70s vehicles with metal tanks.

Not enough bandwidth on the internet to list.
Exactly. Go on a long picnic or something. Plus leaving the truck for that long without driving? That's a recipe for problems.

Mine is a 96. Just wonder if they just stopped them or just certain Toyotas had them.

I'd imagine the biggest reason to not have one is to make it non trivial to steal fuel.
