    What year Tundra?
If you are talking 2022. Pass. Wait until all the bugs are worked out of it.
If it’s pre-2022, how much is in your budget for fuel?

You'll probably get worse MPG, might be harder to park in cities, and if you have a garage will it fit nicely in there or will it make it more cramped.

    Still thinking about it.
Why would we talk you out of it? Go support the economy. Beat it.

Nah… I don’t mean to be mean. I hope you get the Tundra and like it.

Haha I had a 19 before going back to the taco. Forgot how small it is. I’m digging the new desert chase if they ever decide to sell it.

I've eyeballed Tundras for over a year now. I just can't give up my Tacoma for one. Yes, they are smaller, much smaller. But they are dang good trucks. I never dreamed I would enjoy a midsize truck as much I do after driving nothing but fullsize for years, but this is hands down my favorite truck, ever. The parking, maneuverability, easier to drive on one-lane roads here in KY, and practicality that it does everything I need it to do, are just what I need.

The current pandemic markup pricing alone would prevent me from even thinking about buying another vehicle. Well, that and also having no car payments.

I was talking with a Tundra owner just yesterday. He told me his Tundra is currently parked due to gas prices and he's driving his daughters Subaru. In the current climate there is no way I'm shopping for a new or used vehicle.

A 2022 Tundra? Spend a little time on Tundras.com before you buy one. If I buy one it will be a 23 or 24 at least.

I miss the Tacoma. Much easier to drive in town and better off road.

The new Tundras get better mileage than 3rd gen Tacoma and my 2019 is probably about on par with a 1st or 2nd gen Tacoma. But yeah, if you have a car available now, drive it.

That is taking it too far, to say there is "no way". There are a number of ways you could find yourself shopping for a new or used vehicle in this tough purchasing climate. I'll provide one that is quite common. Assuming you own a vehicle and routinely drive it, your vehicle could become involved in an accident where it's totaled. This could place you in position to be shopping for a new ride. If you found yourself in this position, you might find yourself on the fence between the Tundra and Tacoma.

This business of that Tundra owner parking his Tundra in favor of a Subaru. Holy cow. I would gladly spend TRIPLE the gas money to not have to drive a Subaru. In fact I once turned down a free ticket to the Vagina Monologues because I would had to travel to the theater in a Subaru.

I agree, as I'd rather buy the middle to last year of a series following a model redesign, like the 2007 Malibu I purchased in 2009 ('daily rental" on the line setting ticket means it spent more time on the assembly line), a nearly fully optioned red car from the dealer's rental fleet with all the options except a moon/sun roof. 2008 was the beginning of the next design series, and lowered the roofline toward the rear. The only way I'll lose the Tacoma is by failure to come up with an answer to "Dad, we really need the truck, and the Malibu gets better mileage..." (Tanks are designed so that 1/4 tank = 100 miles, so it's nice to have about 800 miles on tap between two rigs.) Watch "The Car Care Nut" review of the 2022 Tundra on YouTube for his likes and dislikes. With this first year of the coil spring rear end, this is new experience for Toyota Technicians, and as he says, "Toyota's philosophy is 'If it ain't broke, don't fix it,' and the leaf springs haven't been a problem." Coil springs may be just as reliable as leaf packs... The Tacoma is easier to park downtown and at busy shopping centers (Costco Tire reserved some spaces close to their shop for their customers, and put in a couple self-fill tire stations.) I really like the more erect seating in the truck, which the Tundra has, but I have the same feeling I got when I saw the MPG figures for the Honda Ridgeline. Why build a monster SUV or pickup when you've built a strong market share based on more fuel efficient vehicles than the competition?
The Tacoma Gen 2 is so much bigger than the trucks of the late 1980s, yet keeps the reliability and workmanship quality to high standards. What ever you need, go for it!
