Wow, I thought I paid a lot with a 1000 deposit back in March 2021. Just looking around right now on AutoTrader, there is a 21 and a 20 PRO sale right now. The 21 is a Lunar rock with 62017km and its's selling for 62888 in the GTA, and the 20 is a midnight black, with 25777km selling for 61000 in Brockville. The 21 is what is crazy. The previous owner drove for 60000km and probably sold it to the dealership to 59000 (I'm just assuming) that's MSRP of a 21 PRO before tax. In a way, the previous owner drove their Taco for free.

This may be an overestimate of the PRO but I think it's beginning to morph into a halo truck that collectors will sought after for in say 20-30 years. As I said earlier, high-end Ferrari and Lamborghini dealerships have recognized the rarity of the PRO trim specifically. I'm not sure if this is an accurate comparison, but I feel like the 3rd gen PRO is sort of similar to the 1st gen Raptor, where some enthusiasts miss the V8 engine. Certain Raptor enthusiasts still look for low mileage 1st gen Raptors. As we know, the next gen PROs will most definitely carry a hybrid power train, dubbing the 3rd gen pro as the last pure ICE Tacoma. This may draw in enthusiats in the future, especially if a PRO is manual, low mileage, stock, clean record, etc.

2k deposit is a lot, but it is understandable since so many people are trying to get PROs seeing its rarity. Another aspect that dealerships value the most is probably down payment, the more you can offer, the better cash flow they have, which can incentivize and motivate them to complete your deal.

This is just my two-cent on the position of the PRO within the Tacoma lineup.

Manitoba. Yeah 2k is a lot. Tough part is there is or was as of yesterday a PRO auto here at a different dealer that I can get for sure. Just a phone call away. But if I hold out to try and get the 6MT I may not get either.

I do agree. I was curious about this as well. I contacted a few dealers inquiring about the used values. I know no buddy can predict the long term future but short term that all basically said they would pay MSRP trade value within the first 6 months to a year.

I had several sales managers tell me outright they can't get one, only request one.
Small dealers might get 1 PRO per year across all models, so most PRO's are pre-sold/waitlisted.

If the dealer actually has an allocation they will be able to show you the pipeline summary to prove it's scheduled, or already in production. I wouldn't put down a deposit without seeing it.

There is two used PRO in Edmonton a 19/20 both are listed mid to high 60k range. Yet when I have shopped my 18 they basically want to pay Off-road value as the PRO isn’t even a listed option in the black book .
But I guess with todays payment buyers thses trucks will probably sell and the dealerships will make huge profits.

PRO does and will continue to have better residuals percentage wise. I posted this in another thread. If you're looking for short term ownership only, PRO will actually be around the same cost to own or cheaper than an OR. You pay more for it up front, but you get more for it when you sell it.
Eg Buy PRO for $60k sell for $55k in 2 years
Buy OR for $50k, sell for $45k in 2 years. Both trucks actually cost you $5k. Everything else should be close to same cost. Finance costs, if applicable, could play a bit of a role here as well, but not huge over short term.

If they are listing for $62,888 assuming they haven't dropped the price yet, they likely got it on trade in the low $50,000 range. Dealers want about $10k in room on vehicles in this price range give or take. Playing around with $3-4k margins on used would be an exception and they wouldn't stay in business long if they did that.

My 6MT sport premium in lunar rock is due within a month or so. Ordered end of October from Birchwood. I actually managed a slight discount and no dealer fees. But a 1k non-refundable deposit. I contacted every dealer in MB when I was ready to order and told them what I needed to order and put a non-refundable deposit that day. I’ve always had good experiences at Birchwood personally. Shoot me a PM if you want to know more.

ordered my army green trail on feb 18th. dealer said they had an allocation for one. now reading this thread i'm thinking they might've been pulling my leg. or i'm extremely lucky.
they said up to 4 month wait though. seems like people in the usa are waiting half that. just can't stop thinking about getting this truck.
the wait is already killing me

It's been brought up here that 20th of each month is when dealers find out if they have new orders coming in. Anyone hear anything from their dealers today?

Nice! And did you get factory led headlights installed some how on a TRD sport? I just noticed it says leds in your vehicle description.

I can't believe anyone would pay over $60k for a used truck !!!! More money than brains I guess.

It will likely just be the LED DRL unless they’ve added that to the sport premium package. I think only the TRD pro or nightshade edition have the full LED headlights in Canada..

Dealer says my truck status is showing "At Yard - Processing". They said that this means the truck is in Canada waiting for a boat (I'm in Newfoundland), but I'm not sure that's the case. Anyone have any experience with this?

It might mean it's at the ferry terminal in Sydney.

That would be the Brampton or Macmillian (Wonderland) CN yards in the Toronto area. Most likely the Macmillian yard though. Brampton is mostly containers. It will be a while ( 10 days - 2 weeks) until it gets to North Sydney.

Is this Tacoma going to be a Bayman's or a Townie's truck? :) I am planning on going to SPM on the new ferry this summer.
