Stopped by Cabelas today it’s been a while since I got to go. They had 150 round boxes of green tip for $95 best price I’ve seen in a while and Winchester white box 7.62x51 for $25 a box idk ‍If that’s good or not but grabbed a few boxes

Well shit, first time this has ever happened. Is this just a bad round, or is there something going on with the rifle? This has never happened before, the rifle has seen at least 400 rounds through it, but never FMJ, I hate FMJ’s.

My first thought is that it was a bad round. I've come across this with both military and civilian rounds where the bullet wasn't seated correctly.

Mostly stock with a few minor mods.
Looks like a bad factory crimp to me. Jamming in the gun shouldn't force it back into the shell like that if it was sized correctly and crimped.

I'd first suggest thoroughly cleaning your bolt carrier group, and your breach, then lubing it. Sends some rounds down range after that and see if you have any feed/ejection issues afterwards. Also is there a chance the magazine wasnt seated fully? Did this happen from a double feed where the last casing didnt eject from the breach fully and a new round was fed into it?

I’m with the others, looks like a bad crimp and the bullet slid into the case upon hitting the feed ramps. Either that or the magazine has the cartridge way out of alignment.

That round was in the middle of a 20 round magazine, everything before and after ran fine. I'm still going to clean it good though.
