And here I thought I was being smart renewing my plates for two years while a bunch of people I know just never renewed theirs.

Drawbacks:
It's held down with 8 straps, with no flap or channel engagement at the bedrails. In a storm, wind will lift it up slightly and leak profusely.
Susceptible to punctures from tree branches
Will need an automatic air pump / pressure relief system to handle large temperature swings (say from 0 to -20C overnight)

 

to what i gather, you still need to renew. it's just that you do it online and it costs you "nothing".

Yup. all of this bullshit including Bill 124 is for votes. fuck politics.

 

Still need to renew to avoid getting ticketed while driving or parking in the street. It's also necessary for driving out of province. Looks like we'll be getting a refund.

As for enforcement, in District 6ix, cops sit on street corners with automatic plate scanners to catch people with expired plates, unreadable plates, parole violations, outstanding arrest warrants, etc.

 

And this is what worries me as i have a trip planned in 2-3 months into the US....

 

pretty sure no one in the US cares if your plates/stickers are up to date or not. when i take trips in the US with my truck i take my front plate off so i would have no sticker showing period. remember a lot of states don't require a front plate and since most Americans can't even locate Ontario on a map, they certainly don't know if you are supposed to have a plate out front.

The people still have the same job, we're just not paying for the stickers. They'll add it somewhere else and it'll cost more than $120/year, I guarantee it

 

my guess is:

Schools
retirement homes
the remains of our health care system once bill 124 evidently sneaks past because everyone is so pissed off at this sticker thing
drug care centers
and disability help

basically anything that further rams the unstoppable dick of politics that lets it fuck the lower and mid class.
