Think about how cheap gas will be when no one wants it anymore because most bought into the EV myth.

The new EV will have a coal burning stove in the trunk, no need to plug in.

Yeah! While you're in there, do the Learned Value Reset. See the 1st Post of the ECU Update thread.

If you change the tranny oil, and it sparkles in the light, you are removing material from synchros & gear teeth - if no particles, no damage.

I have to admit that I was not sure about the a recal. I do them regularly at work on Diesel's and they are just about changing the threshold of codes triggering. Less sensitive code triggers means less driver's park vehicles because the CEL is on and less maintenance requirements.

So now that I have driven my truck with the new recal, for a almost a week, I feel I can safely say that this recal is nothing like what I have experienced before. To start off with, right after I did the recal and reset of learned values I drove the truck to pick up my daughter from school. Not far from my place I had to stop at a red light on a fairly steep hill. When I released the clutch to start again I was surprised I had zero throttle. The clutch was all the way out, the truck was in first gear, it felt like I had it in 5th. I was concerned.

After this the truck was fine... better than fine. I started to notice how much smoother the throttle response was during shifting. And the seemless transition from light throttle to coast and back again. The engine responds better on initial clutch engagement at a stop. No more slight stumble. Even when cold it is greatly improved.

I had the rematch with that hill this morning... the one that caused concern. This morning the engine was smoooooottthhhhhhh like butter.

This raises 2 questions with me... why did I wait so long? And what would a tune do if this recal did such a great job?

Sorry about the Reset fun. Doing them on 04B14 Stock was the oddest that I felt. The first time that you goose it, it can be odd.

The comments made about 04B14 and 04B33 (the most adopted of the newer ECU IDs) are all like that. Trust the horde! Hahaha!

For the vF Tunes? Add a similar amount of great changes and say bye to clutch slip in 1st.

Biggest reason I tuned initially was cuz I hated 2nd gear and seemed to always be bogging it down

Tuning has vastly improved that plus smoothed out the surges at 2500 and 3500 rpm

Created my own thread but figured I might as well post here as it gets more visibility: https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/low-rumble-grind-in-reverse-manual.756322/

Last night I began experiencing what I can only really describe as a very low rumble/grind when driving in reverse up my driveway. I originally thought it may have been a rock or something caught between the cover plate and the brakes, but it didn't seem to be doing it in 1st or any of the other gears. I took it in this morning (warranty), and I thought I may have been hearing it in first gear but I wasn't sure if it was just my mind playing tricks on me. It didn't seem to affect driving at all and my roommate didn't seem to notice it unless I pointed it out but I have never experienced it previously. If anyone had any thoughts I would appreciate it, I've never had trouble with this dealership but they definitely do the dealership dance when reporting issues. Truck is a 2020 with just over 30k on it and has been in for every service interval.

If anyone has any thoughts I'd appreciate it. Took it in at 7 this morning and the dealer hasn't even looked at it yet so I'm twiddling my thumbs at the moment. :duh:

how fast were you going? Almost sounds like the truck was moving too slow for the engine to be at a decently high RPM and that you were near stalling it? Reverse gearing in this truck is the one downside to the 6MT, but we live with it. Some of us have the 2Lo mod too.

I heard it with the clutch engaged and without. Seemed to be more prevalent when I was giving it some gas.

hmm, not sure what it would be when the clutch is to the floor. That's not the near-stall I'm thinking of.
