Yeah, mine is way up too and it clears just fine. But there are perks to getting that weight off of that corner as well.

Yeah, I just put it in and thought man I really don’t think the hood will shut with it that high. It might though and just tricked my eyes. I figured if I want to move it now is the time anyways.

That's true and maybe down the road I'll move mine but the way it ties into the frame helps a lot.

Mine is going under the bed behind the cab. I got the small tray to go with a smaller battery. My battery under the hood already gets just as much mud and muck on it. I wouldn't stress it. I'll build a splash shield/skid of sorts. Mine will also be mounted so the terminals will be on the side so that mud and stuff will fall off vs sit on top.

The biggest upside to AGM or the like is the ability to mount them in any orientation. Lead acids have to be mounted vertically.

I haven't pulled them yet, but there's sooooo much more room behind the DC seats with that useless plastic cubbie system removed. Bet you could fit a battery back there if ya tried.

This guy did and looks like he just trimmed the cubby's down. Pretty factory looking:

Since this is a melting pot of minds, is 1/4" wall square tube overkill for the runners between sliders and the frame and I should just order different steel or should I just send it and build them? The rest isn't as thick, just the 'runners' as I call them since I'm not sure what to call them. I'd be doing 4 on each side since I have a DCLB.

Do more than 4. Are you welding the sliders to the frame??? 1/4 wall is a bit over kill but I wouldn't go out of my way to get a different thickness. I'm running 5 per side .120 wall 1.75" round tube. I'd do minimum of 5 for a DCLB seriously. I'll take a pic of my layout for you tomorrow. I call them legs or standoffs, I don't think there is a defined correct terminology for them nor does it really matter.

If that’s what you have use it, but do more than 4 like ovrlndkull said. I have 5 on my short bed made out of 1 1/2 .250 wall and they still deflect enough to hit the punch seem on the body if I slam down hard. Make sure you plate the frame is those areas to distribute the load otherwise the frame will bend.

defenitely doublers to the frame behind the standoffs. and as long as you have a welder capable of penetrating 1/4 wall i say run it. to help with deflection you can run a piece of plate off the topside angled to the outside and like 1-1.5" tall on the inside and that will help. with 1/4 wall and being only like 8 in long its not necessarily the square tube that will deflect but the frame itself where the leg is welded that will flex. But unless you have interferance restraints more legs>less legs...

I have 8' of the 2"x2" square tube and enough 3/16 A36 plate to make 4 frame plates and 4 gussets per side. If my math is right anyway. I need to get out the plates and my scribe and make sure.

Skip or one of you other guys, can you grab length measurements from the frame to the slider's main beam so I know what length I'll be looking at? If I can manage with the 8' and get 5 per side, awesome, if not 4 will have to do.

These are what I'm starting with, I took the old runners off. (old photo)

8' is plenty to get more than 4 per side. They're only like 6-8" long. I'll pull a measurement for ya too. My frame plates are different too. I have them big enough to get 4 1/2" plug weld hole in them around ea. tube so they aren't just perimeter welded.

Yeah I have 4 legs on mine and they were only 16 inches apart to make them even. And I was all forward almost touching the cab mount and rearward plate right before the bend of the frame.

Ignore my 100 ft SO cord going to my oven outlet to feed my 240v compressor and welder. :) The outdoors is my shop.

Ya I think they were about 8” with 30 degree on the rail. I wanted the look without big gaps so they don’t look super bulky and think it turned out pretty good.
